Procurement Specialist - Packaging

 

Job Summary:

Shape the future of our supply chain and make a direct impact on our product quality and cost management! As the Procurement Specialist - Packaging in Overland Park, you will own the supply, cost, quality, and service of our packaging materials. You'll be instrumental in developing sourcing strategies, managing critical tools like SMI and Risk Management, and driving significant savings initiatives across all your materials. This is your opportunity to leverage your expertise in Procurement or Supply Chain to lead continuous improvement programs with suppliers and influence key business decisions by analyzing large sets of data.

 

Responsibilities:

Accountable for the Purchasing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and working with the entire Category Supply Chain 

Helps support effective negotiations for specific materials purchases 

Partners with suppliers' sales, technical and other functional groups as well as Hill’s Supply Chain, Technology, Marketing and Finance functions to enforce Purchasing policies, resolve issues, align service and financial strategies 

Understands, reviews, analyzes, and maintains large sets of data to help drive business decisions

Helps develop Sourcing strategies around risk mitigation, single source, sustainability 

Provides input for "Top to Top" meetings and, when necessary, 

Leads continuous improvement programs with suppliers (i.e., Supplier Certification, Continuous Improvement Teams, etc.) 

Leverages SAP in day-to-day function, including entering prices into the system (where responsible) and ongoing contract and vendor  maintenance

Supports efforts in using e-tools (RFP,  Ariba, etc.) to help drive Funding the Growth, simplification and standardization programs 

Leads implementation of SMI with appropriate suppliers 

Helps maintain category budget and quarterly updates

Continues to improve oneself by way of training, information sharing, coaching and feedback, and implementing best practices 

Participates in external industry forums (e.g., Purchasing organizations) and internal Purchasing meetings 

Develops documented understanding of market structure and drivers for his/her materials, with risk management overview, and identifies opportunities and threats for the future 

Interfaces with suppliers to prevent / solve possible service issues 

Interfaces with suppliers to prevent/ solve possible quality issues 

Develops new suppliers for Packaging Materials

Additional Qualifications/Responsibilities

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor of Business in a technical or business field, or comparable discipline 
A minimum of 3 years in Procurement, Supply Chain, or Packaging Engineering
Experience managing e-tools (RFP,  Ariba, etc.)  or similar tools
 

Preferred Qualifications:

An advanced degree (MBA) or professional certification (CPM or CPSM)
SAP experience or any other ERP 
Knowledge of Google Platforms

Compensation and Benefits
Salary Range $83,200.00 - $115,000.00 USD

Pay is determined based on experience, qualifications, and location. Salaried employees may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, profit-sharing, and long-term incentives for Executive-level roles.

Benefits: Salaried employees enjoy a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, basic life insurance, paid parental leave, disability coverage, and participation in the 401(k) retirement plan with company matching contributions subject to eligibility requirements. Additional benefits include a minimum of 15 vacation/PTO days (hourly employees receive a minimum of 120 hours) and 13 paid holidays (vacation days are prorated based on the employee's hire date within the calendar year). Paid sick leave is adjusted based on role and location in accordance with local laws. Detailed information regarding paid sick leave entitlements will be provided to employees upon hiring and may be subject to adjustments based on changes in legislation or company policies.
