Hours:  Full-Time 40 Hours Per Week

Location:  St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, 202 W. Kronkosky, Boerne, TX 78006


I. Position Purpose: With guidance from and in conjunction with clergy, facilitate the worship life of the parish community by leading the planning, coordination and execution of quality parish liturgical celebrations. Organize and align leaders of parish ministries to support parishioners in their devotion to their faith and service to one another and the community. In collaboration with clergy, successfully coordinate and lead Parish OCIA, Marriage Prep, Annulment programs and procedures. 


II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

· In collaboration with clergy and liturgy committee members, plan and coordinate all liturgical activities and celebrations to ensure the integrity and continuity of the liturgical year. This will include liturgical preparation, scheduling and coordination of the OCIA program, celebrations of Holy Days of Obligation, Sacraments and Communal Penance Services. Develop seasonal liturgical plans and themes, including art and environment.

· As directed by the Pastor lead the Parish Liturgy Committee, providing initial orientation for all new committee members, as well as their ongoing formation. Coordinate with clergy, faith formation, musicians, facilities, art and environment and parish administration staff for all liturgical celebrations.

· Working with Liturgy Committee, Altar Care Society and environment volunteers direct the art and environment of the Church, Sanctuary, Day Chapel and Narthex throughout the liturgical year.

· In collaboration with clergy and key staff maintain inventory and order liturgical supplies including candles, wine, hosts, holy oils, Lenten ashes, palms, vessels, altar supplies, worship aids, etc.

· Jointly with clergy, coordinate the recruitment, training, scheduling and direction of liturgical ministers, including Altar Servers, Ushers, Sacristans, Lectors, Eucharistic Ministers, Art and Environment ministers and Parish Liturgy Committee.

· Develop and document the implementation of parish policies and guidelines concerning liturgy. Maintain current records for all liturgical ministries.

· Serve as parish resource to all volunteer ministries, Pastoral Council, staff members and liturgical ministers to promote an understanding of ministry activity and responsibilities to and through volunteers.

· Marriage Preparation – Complete all pre-nuptial and convalidation documents and requirements with couples marrying at St. Peters. Plan wedding ceremony liturgy. Schedule wedding assistants.

· OCIA – Function as point of contact for all OCIA inquiries. Work directly with clergy to manage acquisition of records, curriculum development and delivery, preparation of liturgies for all OCIA rites and retreats. Ensure all catechumens are properly prepared and receive sacrament of initiation as appropriate.

· Marriage Annulment - Working with clergy and individuals requesting annulment, prepare, submit and maintain status of annulment petitions to resolution of the cases. Assist them in any marital needs after annulment finalization.


Work Schedule

· Work schedule is established with Pastor and Parish Operations Director based on workload, at a minimum of forty hours per week, which includes some evenings, weekends and Holy Days of Obligation.

Requirements

 Minimum Qualifications:

 

· Strong commitment to the mission of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church and be in full communion with the Catholic Church

· Positive communication skills, verbal and written, and exercise of courtesy and confidentiality 

· Minimum three years’ experience leading liturgical ministry in a Catholic Parish

· Knowledgeable of Catholic liturgy through the Roman Missal, Lectionary, General Instruction of the Roman Missal and other pertinent documents and resources.

· Demonstrated skill in effective and well-received liturgical planning and coordination of liturgical events at a Parish level

· Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft applications, particularly Word, Outlook, Excel, as well as with scheduling software and databases

· Undergraduate degree in Liturgy, Theology or Pastoral Ministry, or successful completion of a liturgical certificate program strongly preferred

· Bi-lingual Spanish/English and culturally competent in diverse liturgical expressions extremely beneficial
