About the Role

As a Technical Specialist at Zekelman Industries, you will play a key role in ensuring seamless IT operations and reliable infrastructure performance across both office and manufacturing environments. This position requires strong technical expertise, critical thinking, and a proactive approach to service excellence. You’ll serve as a subject matter expert and escalation point, driving service delivery improvements, implementing sustainable solutions, and supporting business users so they can operate at their best.

You will collaborate with IT peers, business stakeholders, and plant teams to enhance system reliability, optimize support processes, and maintain compliance with corporate standards. This position is onsite in Wheatland, PA.

What You’ll Do

• Evaluates escalated and recurring IT incidents, conducts root-cause analysis, and implements proactive solutions to improve system reliability and reduce downtime.
• Serves as an escalation point for Tier 1 support, resolving complex infrastructure and application issues using advanced diagnostic tools and technical expertise.
• Leads or assists with the deployment, configuration, and integration of hardware, software, and network devices across office and plant environments.
• Ensures systems and devices remain compliant with company policies and security standards; develops and maintains technical documentation, including SOPs, knowledge base articles, and FAQs.
• Monitors service levels to ensure adherence to SLAs and drives continuous improvement initiatives to enhance service delivery.
• Collaborates with business stakeholders, IT peers, and plant personnel to deliver solutions, share best practices, and mentor junior support staff.
• Promotes a culture of safety and compliance with all relevant health, safety, and IT security regulations.
• Provides on-site and hands-on IT support as needed and participates in a rotating on-call schedule for after-hours coverage.

Who You Are

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related technical field—or equivalent work experience.
• 4+ years of progressive experience in IT support, systems administration, or infrastructure management, preferably within manufacturing or industrial environments.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Windows environments, networked devices, and IT service management principles.
• Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills with the ability to identify, assess, and resolve technical issues effectively.
• Experience using ITSM tools; ITIL exposure or certification strongly preferred.
• Proven ability to lead small projects, initiatives, or process improvements.
• Ability to travel up to 10% between U.S. and Canadian facilities as required.

• Remains in a stationary position for extended periods.
• Occasionally moves about the office to access equipment or files.
• Lifts and transports moderately heavy objects such as computers and peripherals.
• Operates standard office and IT equipment daily.
• Performs work in both office and plant/manufacturing environments.
• Other physical requirements as necessary to perform job duties.
