Responsibilities:The Director of Sales and Marketing (DOSM) has direct oversight and leadership of the sales operation and marketing initiatives of the resort. With leading the Commercial efforts of the resort, the DOSM has a primary responsibility to maximize profit by effectively leading sales, service, and marketing team members of the department, coordinating sales and marketing budget, , creating and executing effective marketing strategies and campaigns that support all sales, and overseeing group and transient sales. Additional responsibilities include maintaining effective involvement with key community organizations, upholding key relationships with previous clients, and maintaining customer satisfaction as the driving philosophy of the business.
- Demonstrate positive leadership characteristics, which inspire employees to meet and exceed standards. Lead by example.
- Ensure compliance with appearance standards within sales team.
- Establish room rates, advertising, credit and type of patronage to be solicited.
- Maintain a good working relationship with other departments, employees and guests.
- Maintain work area clean and organized.
- Operate sales department within forecasted expenses.
- Promote employee empowerment. Motivate Team.
- Provide distinctly premiere service to sales guests/clients.
- Report all unsafe conditions immediately.
- Effectively lead sales force to reach budgeted sales and catering goals
- Direct all forecasting activities.
- Direct sales meetings.
- Review market analysis to determine strategy toward potential discount periods, revenue maximization.
- Look at prospects and tentatives to discuss with Sales Managers in order to determine next step to progress business forward
- Analyze Readerboards, and utilize Knowland Insight (or equivalent) to uncover new business
- Use networking ‘social media for business’ tools such as LinkedIn to research existing & potential accounts and develop new contacts for the resort.
- Establish minimum guidelines for group and transient to allow Managers to close business quickly
- Coach Sales Team to overcome weaknesses
- Attend all mandatory meetings.
- Be involved in the community, professional organizations and chamber of commerce.
- Maintain all lead generating sites (Cvent, Starcite, DDC, Tour Connections, Resort Planners, Brand Sites, etc).
- Oversee and manage social media channels.
- Develop and maintain solicitation responsibility for all accounts.
- Co-manage pricing policy at the resort.
- Perform in the capacity of any position supervised.
- Relate guest feedback to other departments.
- Complete all month-end sales reports.
- Select, train, schedule, supervise, develop, discipline and counsel employees according to Davidson policies and procedures.
- Conduct monthly audit of meeting space.
- Assist Sales Team in closing business
- Administer bonus/incentives to meet revenue and booking pace.
- Davidson Lead Referral Program. Actively seek business opportunities for other company-managed resorts.
- Complete other duties as assigned by the Resort GM and Corporate Office.
- Conduct performance appraisals in a timely manner.
- Develop promotions for the resort to increase revenue opportunities.
- Develop quarterly plans and actions for all segments.
- Maintain lost business log and ensure follow up for future business.
- Monitor emails and other customer correspondences generated by sales team
- Reinforce all training activities on a daily basis.
- Participate in MOD shifts.
- Create promotions and new concessions for team to use to close new business
- Update Catering Free Sell to give Catering Team dates resort doesn’t need group
- Determine how to turn around inefficiencies and implement change strategies
- Lead and support the Director of Marketing in the following functions:
- Creating and executing annual marketing plan to budget, in consultation with resort, restaurant, spa and other venue leaders as well as Davidson above property marketing leaders.
- Aggregating and analyzing reports from agencies and combined with internal metrics and insights to formally report out on results and adjust forward marketing plan.
- Creating and monitoring all media relations, social media, and digital media platforms
- Assessing the traditional and new print campaigns and managing budget accordingly.
- Creating trackable offers for print campaigns whenever possible and reporting on effectiveness.
- Managing print deadlines and organizing collaborators to meet milestone requirements.
- Managing all collateral content and creation within footprint.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
