Your work environment at EXP
In this role, you will be a part of the Transportation team of the Mid Atlantic Sector, based in our Richmond, VA. office and have the opportunity to work on a variety of transportation and infrastructure projects. Responsibilities include construction monitoring, compliance and coordination of Locally Administered Projects (LAP) once the project has been awarded and proceeds to construction.
The right candidate will provide the required VDOT oversight for the construction project and is a resource to the Local Public Agency (LPA) Project Manager. The candidate must be familiar with a wide range of construction activities and will be the single point of contact for all VDOT site visits and project reviews during construction.
The Construction Project Monitor’s primary role is to document the LPA's conformance with project specifications and specific legal or regulatory requirements through project reviews The Construction Project Monitor is responsible for providing a general level of oversight during the construction process.

- Attend preconstruction/progress meetings
- Conduct review of project documentation
- Verify materials acceptance procedures
- Periodic spot inspection of work
- Review/approval of reimbursement requests
- Participate in work/change orders as appropriate
- Participate in final project inspection
What your experience looks like
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering with a minimum of 20 years of experience in construction management, or a related field.
- Virginia Professional Engineering (PE) License.
- Excellent understanding of VDOT’s Locally Administered Projects.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Demonstrated experience in coordinating construction project performance with clients.
- Overall experience in providing construction oversight to ensure compliance with federal requirements.
The salary range for this role is $150,000 to $170,000. Actual compensation will be determined based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to the candidate's skill set, experience, certifications, and geographic location. Compensation may vary by location due to differences in the cost of labor.
