Duties
Perform difficult and complex ultrasound examinations.,Review requests from physicians for ultrasound examinations.,Select, sets up, adjusts, and operates ultrasound equipment.,Perform pre-procedure planning with Radiologist.,Provide training to staff and civilian and military personnel in ultrasound principles, capabilities, techniques, and equipment.,Instruct active-duty ultrasound patients on how to perform all aspects of ultrasonic imaging.,Conduct examination, adjusting technical factors and sonographic parameters to optimize image quality to best present the medically significant aspects found.,Gather appropriate supplies and equipment required for the procedure using aseptic techniques to prepare the procedure tray.

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 grade level in the Federal service which includes performing variety of ultrasound examination on patients; maintaining ultrasound diagnostic equipment, and/or assisting Radiologist or Physicians with pre-procedure and post-procedure planning. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). Education: Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone-no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
