Pay Range
$34.90 - $52.35The Team Lead coordinates MLTs and MTs in a wide range of duties that include producing timely lab results, performing and documenting quality control, utilizing, supplies properly and assuring compliance with state, OSHA, FLOYD and other agency guidelines. He/she assures competency of all testing staff, reviews and accepts responsibility for the accuracy of test results.
Major Responsibilities:
1. Performs quality work.
- Utilizes technical knowledge of each area supervised.
- Produces accurate results.
- Maintains acceptable proficiency tests scores.
- Utilizes delta checks to follow up on significant changes in patient results.
- Reviews quality control and assures corrective actions are taken and documented.
- Utilizes knowledge of instrumentation and performs maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Reviews pending lists at end of shift.
- Produces test results within established turnaround times.
- Reviews technical procedures annually.
- Refers abnormal results to pathologist, nursing staff, or physician as required by policy.
- Follows all Joint Commission, State of Georgia and other regulatory guidelines and standards.
- Provides direction to staff that keeps them on task.
2. Displays a sense of cooperation in daily work relationships.
- Maintains proper relationship with medical and nursing staff.
- Modifies work schedule as needed.
- Supports laboratory and administrative goals and objectives.
- Follows hospital and laboratory policies and procedures.
- Maintains proper attendance.
- Follows posted schedule and submits earned time requests according to policy.
3. Promotes staff development.
- Assists employees with professional growth and development in the laboratory.
- Assigns special duties to promote growth.
- Recommends continuing education.
- Delegates responsibilities and duties to employees.
- Promotes teamwork.
- Assures performance evaluations are updated annually and completed on time.
- Coaches, counsels and disciplines employees as necessary.
4. Maintains a high level of productivity.
- Uses allotted time and resources effectively.
- Performs technologist duties as needed
Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:
Registered Medical Laboratory Technician, ASCP
Education Required:
Associate’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology
Experience Required:
At least five years’ experience in MLT/MT role
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Standing and walking for
extensive periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carries weight up to 50 pounds. Ability to distinguish letters, numbers and symbols with vision
and hearing within normal range to respond to Code alerts and equipment alarms. Work-related stress due to volume and time constraints with
irregular working hours
