Description

  • Position will also train in call center and eligibility and precertification as back-up to fill in as needed. 


  • Handles outbound calls daily to schedule procedures and/or clinic appointments.
  • Schedules ASC and hospital based medical procedures, for patients with appropriate provider and time/location slot, utilizing appropriate scheduling code.
  • Effectively utilizes clinical knowledge when determining if appointment is consistent with the diagnosis/indications indicated by the provider.
  • Completes accurate documentation of informed consent with patients for procedures and surgeries as needed.
  • Provides accurate, detailed information to patients regarding test preparations, time of patients scheduled arrival, and any other directional information needed; takes appropriate action in responding to questions from patients.
  • Ensures patients have proper medical clearance and pre-surgical testing as needed.
  • Verifying insurance coverage of each patient scheduled for surgery.
  • Explaining coverages to patients and discuss financial responsibility.
  • Prioritize incoming authorization requests according to urgency.
  • Confirms patient’s insurance provider and obtains prior authorization via payer website or by phone and follow up regularly on pending cases.
  • Maintain individual payer files to include up to date requirements needed to successfully obtain authorizations dating patient information/keeping records.
  • Confirm accuracy of CPT and ICD-10 diagnoses in the procedure order.
  • Contact patients to discuss payments for upcoming procedures and setting up payment plans when needed.
  • Assists other members of the department as needed.
  • Ability to work at other locations and overtime as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Must be open to cross training and learning other areas as needed



Requirements

  • High school or equivalent 
  • Customer service and computer skills: 1 year 
  • Medical terminology: 1 year 
  • ASC Scheduling: 1 year 
  • Call center: 1 year
