The Ice Rink Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations and programming of the ice rink facility, ensuring a safe, well-maintained, and organized environment for skating, hockey, and other ice-related events. This role involves scheduling ice time, managing pick-up hockey, coordinating events, and coordinating with other departments to provide excellent Member/guest service and a positive experience for all participants. The lead coordinator also plays a key role in promoting and expanding the rink's programs to increase Membership engagement and participation.
Reports to VP of Outdoor Pursuits and OP Manager
Key Responsibilities:
- Ice Rink Operations:
- Manage and distribute rental equipment (e.g., skates, hockey gear) and ensure proper storage and upkeep.
- Monitor the condition of the ice and facility, addressing maintenance issues promptly.
- Oversee the daily maintenance and management of the ice rink, including assisting with snow removal, ice resurfacing, cleaning, and ensuring safety protocols.
- Scheduling & Program Management:
- Create and manage the schedule for public skating sessions, hockey, figure skating lessons, and private rentals.
- Plan and execute special events, tournaments, and skating parties.
- Collaborate with figure skating and hockey instructors to design private lessons and group training.
- Member Relations & Communication:
- Act as the primary point of contact for inquiries related to the ice rink, hockey programs.
- Handle Member feedback and suggestions, working to resolve issues in a timely manner.
- Communicate schedules, promote ice rink activities and events at ice facility and through Club communication channels.
- Safety & Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with all safety standards and guidelines, including those set by USA Hockey and U.S. Figure Skating.
- Be trained in first aid, CPR, and emergency response - Implement emergency procedures.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management, Recreation, or related field preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in ice rink operations, hockey coaching/coordination, or sports program management.
- Strong knowledge of ice sports, particularly hockey and figure skating.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with Zamboni, or ice resurfacing operations is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work in cold environments for extended periods.
- Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs.
- Prolonged periods of standing, walking, and moving on ice surfaces.
