Join the Northbrook Park District as an Early Childhood Assistant Teacher/Enrichment Instructor and help inspire young minds through play, learning, and creativity in a fun, supportive environment
This position teaches an early childhood class or supervises an early childhood program, including planning and implementing activities for the children and purchasing necessary supplies. Demonstrates commitment to the Mission, Vision and Guiding Principles of the District.
Pay & Schedule:
$18.00 - $20.00 Per Hour
This is a part-time seasonal, non-exempt position.
Monday - Thursday 7:45 AM - 11:34 AM
Anticipated Start Date: 12/1/2025
Duties & Responsibilities:

Assists in facilitating a basic curriculum designed to promote a positive life and learning environment, embracing a “yes I can” philosophy.

Reinforces classroom and operational procedures with participants and families.

Assists in planning, preparing, leading, and conducting lessons for preschool students to meet stated program goals. Diligently supervises the daily drop-off and pick-up process established by the Park District and maintains accurate attendance records.

Supervises children during playtime, transitions, and daily activities indoors and outdoors when appropriate.

Assists in clerical duties such as photocopies, inventory supplies and other clerical duties as needed.

Diligently follows and adheres to all safety policies and procedures. Communicate effectively with co-workers and the public in a professional manner during stressful situations

Maintains a high standard of professional conduct, demeanor, and appearance, and always serves as a positive role model for participants.

Collaborates with internal and external customers in a positive manner.

Works closely with lead teachers/instructors to ensure classroom operations, expectations, and routines are maintained.

Follows safe work practices.

Always maintains a clean and organized worksite.

Attend staff meetings and training as required.

Performs related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Two (2) years of experience working with preschool and/or school-aged children; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the following knowledge, ability and skills. A valid Illinois Vehicle Operator's license is desired but not required.
- CPR/AED Certified. Obtained within the first 3-6 months of employment; training provided if needed.
- Illinois Mandated Reporter Certification – Department of Children and Family Services
- Concussion Training Certification
- Able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
Knowledge
- Hands-on experience working with children
- Able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with children and adults
- Current trends in the field of early childhood education
