The Federal Signal Team is looking for a Logistics Supervisor who will provide leadership to the Shipping Team to achieve departmental and site shipping goals and initiatives. The ideal candidate will oversee incoming freight and receiving activities to ensure accuracy, completeness and condition of shipments. They will also direct oversight and supervision of collective bargaining agreement employees and processes.
Key Activities/Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership to the Shipping/Receiving Clerks, including training and development.
- Manage exceptions at associated outside warehouses.
- Routing of inbound international freight on an as needed basis.
- Facilitate and maintain process improvement initiatives within shipping/receiving department to reduce/control freight spending.
- Monitor and analyze freight exceptions by carrier and mode (air freight, expedited, etc.) for trends and provide feedback to other departments on actions to reduce overall freight spending.
- Perform miscellaneous transactions in JDE/FreightPOP related to processing shipments.
- Assist with International Trade Compliance Training as well as assist with audits for Compliance.
- Serves as International Subject Matter Expert and liaison with JD Edwards Business Analysts to explore opportunities to streamline and automate shipping/receiving processes.
- Contact freight forwarders to secure ITN #’s for shipments already shipped to ensure compliance when needed.
- Cross train in other areas of department as needed.
- Promote safety and support a safe working environment for all employees.
- Performs other duties as assigned
Job Experience/ Skills Required:
- Bachelors preferred or minimum 2 year’s experience in logistics and compliance.
- 2-4 years of logistics experience required including international.
- Previous compliance & warehouse experience preferred
- Experience with spreadsheets/statistical analysis a plus
- Effective communicator; excellent oral and written communication skills
- Sound interpersonal skills enabling the incumbent to work effectively across business units/teams.
- Strong leadership skills
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills
- Self-starter with initiative and ability to work
- efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Good organizational and analytical skills.
- Proficiency using MS Office applications.
- Computer skills to include excel, power point, and Smartsheet.
- Comfortable working with individuals at all organizational levels and flexible to changing
Wage Range: $60,841 - $86,916
