Responsibilities
- Maintain and reconcile the fixed asset subledger to the general ledger
- Track and record asset acquisitions, transfers, disposals, and impairments
- Monitor construction-in-progress (CIP) accounts and ensure timely capitalization
- Calculate and record monthly depreciation and amortization entries
- Manage lease accounting in accordance with ASC 842, including classification, recognition, and disclosure
- Maintain lease and rentals schedules and ensure timely updates for new, modified, or terminated leases and rentals
- Collaborate with equipment department to validate asset classifications, costs, and lease terms
- Conduct periodic physical inventory audits of fixed assets
- Equipment related invoice approvals and coding and review
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting related to capital expenditures and lease obligations
- Prepare audit schedules and support external audits
- Develop and improve fixed asset and lease accounting processes and controls
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably in construction or asset-heavy industries
- Strong understanding of fixed asset and lease accounting (ASC 842)
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., eCMS, OnBase, Lease Accelerator, or similar ERP systems)
- Advanced Excel skills and attention to detail
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- CPA or progress toward certification is a plus
