Perform responsibilities in accordance with all Company standards, policies, and procedures.  Supervise the Security Department Safety Operations as delegated by Management.  Maintain a safe and secure environment for our guest, our Team Members, and our company assets.

In this Role:

  • Oversee Lifeguards and Certified Security Officer Lifeguards in training, operations, and all necessary reviews and documentation.
  • Oversee medical equipment ordering, stocking, and inspections.
  • Assist in implementation of Team Member safety training programs.
  • Assist in implementation of manager training for managing Team Members and departments regarding safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Train and maintain required programs in compliance with Tribal Codes, GLCR Safety standards, i.e., Haz-Com, Bloodborne Pathogens, Hearing Conservation, etc.
  • Implement Risk Management changes on property to reduce the frequency of safety problems and to ensure compliance with Tribal fire codes and GLCR safety regulations.
  • Implement and sustain a property safety committee. Maintain and distribute meeting minutes to appropriate departments and Executive leadership.
  • Maintain all General Liability claims files in a confidential and organized manner.
  • Ensure confidentiality in all aspects of communication.
  • Continue education to stay abreast of changes/alerts pertaining to workers’ compensation and other related regulatory agencies.
  • Act in relation to all Team Members, Guests and vendors in a manner consistent with the Company’s goals and in best interest of Gun Lake Casino.
  • Act in conjunction with the Human Resource Director as liaison concerning all workers’ compensation claims. Work directly with insurance carrier for current information on claims to uncover trends and frequencies for purposes of determining specific training or re-training in classification or department.
  • Perform investigations regarding all claims to gather documentation and witness statements for proper claim management.
  • Perform both monthly and annual inspection of all life safety equipment on property (ie., Fire extinguishers, AEDs, Pool Life safety supplies, Eye wash stations, medical supplies) and provide recommendations and feedback as necessary.
  • Coordinate and conduct safety drills, such as fire or active threat response.
  • Coordinate with outside agencies regarding MOU’s and response plans as it relates to emergencies on property.
  • Coordinate monthly and annual Fire and Life safety inspections with outside vendors and Tribal Safety Department.  Oversee inspections as necessary and provide feedback through reports regarding inadequacies or failures resulting from inspections.
  • Establish and maintain CPR/AED training for all security/safety personnel and interested Team Members.
  • Sit on the Casino Emergency Planning Committee and provide safety and risk management input as it relates to planning for emergencies.
  • May perform duties in other functional areas of the property.
  • Practice teamwork, support fellow Team Members and treat one another the way we treat Guests to create an energized, positive work atmosphere.
  • Practice excellent grooming and uniform standards. Overall appearance is to be immaculate and nametags will be worn at all times.
  • Must display friendly, courteous and polite behavior to internal and external Guests at all times.
  • Give full attention to Guest opportunities and take ownership of these opportunities to ensure Guest satisfaction.
  • Other job-related duties as assigned.

 

Essential Qualifications:

  • Ability to communicate effectively with Guests, Team Members and Management in both written and verbal form.
  • High school diploma or successful completion of GED Certificate.
  • Preferred CPR/AED certification (or met during probationary period).
  • Preferred National registry or State EMT-B or higher.
  • Gaming Work Card, Alcohol Awareness Card, and valid Michigan Driver’s License.
  • Working knowledge of applicable safety & fire regulations relevant to our properties and industry.
  • Minimum two (2) years experience in loss control, safety awareness and Michigan workers’ compensation.  Experience in Fire, EMS, Lifeguarding, or Police work in lieu of this experience may be considered.
  • Ability to plan organized safety instruction for fellow Team Members.
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications.
  • Must be highly organized, able to handle multiple tasks, professional, honest and able to maintain a high level of integrity and confidentiality
  • Ability to obtain a gaming license with the Gun Lake Tribal Gaming Commission.

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires normal, corrective vision range, the ability to see color, and the ability to distinguish letters, numbers, and symbols. 
  • Ability to read, write, and input data into the computer. 
  • Must have the manual dexterity to operate job-related equipment. 
  • Must have the ability to access all properties and areas. 
  • Ability to sit and work on a computer station for a long period of time. 

 

Work Conditions:

Work is typically in an area which may be unusually hot, cold, noisy, and may contain secondhand smoke.  Work may be performed in small areas with a 3 ft. wide access.   Tasks performed from a sitting or non-sitting position.  Performance of job duties will require standing, walking, lifting, reaching, pushing, pulling and grasping.  These tasks include the maintenance and care of assigned area.  Work may entail trained chemical usage.  Constant contact with fellow Team Members and Guests.  Must be able to work under adverse condition, including overtime, evening, weekends, holidays, and testify in court on and off duty.
