The Position (General Position Summary)

The Leadership Intention Integration Advisor will advance Mercy Corps’ Leadership Intention initiative by curating and socializing existing resources and designing targeted learning experiences that equip leaders to navigate change and uncertainty. This short-term role will translate the Leadership Intention into practical tools and learning for leaders across the organization, ensuring the work is sustainable. Working in close partnership with the People Team, Team Engagement & Effectiveness, and senior leadership, this advisor will provide focused, time-bound support to strengthen leadership capacity and embed key behaviors that drive organizational alignment and resilience. 

Essential Responsibilities 

CURATE AND SOCIALIZE RESOURCES

  • Review, curate and synthesize existing leadership tools, frameworks, and materials across the organization. 

  • Develop an accessible and cohesive set of resources aligned with the Leadership Intention. 

  • Create clear guidance and communication materials to support leaders in different parts of the organization to apply these tools in their daily work.  

DESIGN AND IMPLEMENT LEADERSHIP LEARNING

  • Design, pilot, and refine effective learning experiences that enable leaders to embrace uncertainty, navigate ambiguity, manage change, and support their teams effectively.

  • Apply adult learning principles and inclusive design approaches to ensure learning is practical and relevant across global contexts.

  • Integrate learning approaches that combine reflection, peer exchange, and application of core leadership behaviors. 

EMBED LEADERSHIP PRACTICES ACROSS TEAMS

  • Partner with People Team, E&E Team, and key leaders to embed the Leadership Intention within core people processes such as onboarding, performance, and development. 

  • Identify and propose scalable approaches to sustain leadership learning and application beyond the position period. 

  • Develop mechanisms to capture and share examples of leadership in action across teams. 

PARTNER AND COLLABORATE ACROSS THE ORGANIZATION

  • Collaborate with cross-departmental partners to ensure alignment between leadership development and organizational priorities.

  • Facilitate sense-making conversations with leaders to surface needs, insights, and opportunities for improvement.

  • Synthesize insights and provide recommendations to inform the next phase of leadership development and cultural evolution.

Works Directly With: People Team, E&E Team, SRU, Sr. Leaders 

Accountability to Participants and Stakeholders

Mercy Corps team members are expected to support all efforts toward accountability, specifically to our program participants, community partners, other stakeholders, and to international standards guiding international relief and development work. We are committed to actively engaging communities as equal partners in the design, monitoring and evaluation of our field projects. 

Minimum Qualification & Transferable Skills

  • 7+ years of experience in leadership development, organizational learning, or change management.

  • Demonstrated ability to translate leadership frameworks into actionable practices and learning experiences.

  • Strong facilitation and design skills grounded in adult learning principles and inclusive approaches.

  • Experience supporting leaders through ambiguity, organizational transformation, or cultural change.

  • Proven ability to synthesize insights and deliver concise, actionable recommendations.

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills across diverse teams and geographies.

  • Experience working within mission-driven or global organizations is preferred. 

Success Factors

The ideal candidate will be able to quickly understand Mercy Corps’ organizational context and tailor approaches to fit its culture and leadership realities. They will demonstrate strength in balancing strategy and execution, being equally comfortable designing frameworks and rolling up their sleeves to implement them. They will be adaptive, grounded, and skilled at facilitating clarity in complex situations. Above all, they will bring a values-driven approach that emphasizes inclusion, learning, and shared accountability, helping leaders translate the Leadership Intention into tangible actions across the organization. 

Living Conditions / Environmental Conditions

The position can be based anywhere where Mercy Corps has a registered presence and is expected to be largely home-based with potential – and minimal – business travel for training delivery
