Occupational Summary:
The Dean is the chief academic, research, and administrative officer of the school and reports to the Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA). Along with Dean colleagues from the schools within the university, the Dean assists the VPAA to manage the academic affairs of the university.
The Dean is responsible for communicating the school's mission and goals to internal and external constituencies and providing academic leadership in planning, accreditation, program development, faculty development, distance education/outreach, assessment and continuous improvement. The Dean exercises supervisory responsibility for the school's personnel, strategic planning, fiscal management, project development, facilities, operations, and other administrative functions. The Dean works to strengthen and extend university relationships with external communities and has significant responsibilities in community relations, outreach, and fundraising.

Work Performed:
- Collaborate with students, faculty, staff, alumni, and university administration to develop and implement a strategic plan that builds on the school’s strengths and enhances its reputation in a financially responsible manner.
- Anticipate and respond to the university’s markets (employers, funding sources, and students) in the development and management of curriculum and programs.
- Support program directors, faculty, and staff in the processes required to acquire or maintain accreditation or approval by regulatory bodies.
- Devise staffing plans for the school and oversee the process of hiring and evaluation of all faculty and staff.
- Oversee the development and administration of school and program annual budgets while supporting the financial health and viability of the school and university.
- Develop community relations for fundraising, grant development, identification of community/university research projects and development of possible student internship/employment opportunities.
- Teach one graduate or undergraduate course in both the fall and spring semester.
- Complete University-required trainings, including FERPA, Title IX, and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
- Contribute to the overall success of the School of Nursing and Allied Health by performing all other duties as assigned.
- Consider the university’s overall benefit through flexibility and working across departments.
Required Qualifications/Education/Experience/Skills/Training:
- An earned doctorate in a relevant field.
- Demonstrated experience in academic administration, at the Chair/Director level or higher (2-3 years preferred).
- Demonstrated experience in effective fiscal management at the university level (i.e. budget, fundraising, grant writing, etc.)
- Experience leading program directors and faculty in academic development with a commitment to quality and continuous improvement.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a record of collaboration across schools/colleges or departments.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
