Position Overview:

Fourth Street Clinic has a robust and dynamic Outreach Department, which encompasses all patient-facing programs serving individuals experiencing homelessness throughout the greater Salt Lake area. These programs include the Mobile Medical Program, Street Medicine Team, Homeless Resource Center Clinics, and Medically Vulnerable People (MVP) Program. Together, we help individuals experiencing homelessness improve their health and quality of life by providing high-quality, integrated health care directly in the community.

The Mobile Medical Driver plays a critical role in the success of the Outreach Department by ensuring the safe and reliable operation of Fourth Street Clinic's 45-foot mobile medical van. This position is responsible for driving the vehicle to the community partner sites and other homeless services locations across Salt Lake County. While the vehicle is parked, the Mobile Medical Drive assists with patient registration and intake to support clinical operations at each site.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Safely operate and drive a 45-foot mobile medical vehicle (RV) to and from designated community partner sites throughout Salt Lakee County.
  • Set up, operate, load, and unload RV equipment at each site, including leveling jacks, generator, HVAC, system, shore power, and water tanks.
  • Conduct daily inspections of the RV and related equipment to identify damage, malfunctions, or safety concerns.
  • Complete the Daily Driver Vehicle Inspection Report (DVIR)and document findings accurately and promptly.
  • Adhere to all operating procedures, including start-up and shut-down protocols to ensure safe RV operation.
  • Maintain a professional, courteous, and safety-conscious demeanor when driving and interacting with staff, partners, and patients.
  • Provide patient intake and registration services at assigned mobile sites.
  • Assist with patient check-in, scheduling, appointment management in coordination with outreach and clinical teams.
  • Participate as an active member of a multidisciplinary care team to support seamless coordination between medical and outreach staff.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA and OSHA regulations, always maintaining confidentiality and safety standards.
  • Perform clean-up and maintenance tasks, including waste disposal, garbage removal, and gray/black water management.
  • Support fleet management by assisting with maintenance and readiness of other agency vehicles as needed.
  • Maintain physical readiness for essential duties, including the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and perform movements such as pushing, balancing, stooping, twisting, and extended periods on foot.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the mission and operation of Fourth Street Clinic.

Team & Organizational Responsibilities:

  • Attend regularly scheduled staff meetings and participate in Mobile-related or program-specific meetings as required.
  • Maintain current licensure, certifications, and knowledge of FSC polices and clinical systems.
  • Promote patient independence by setting care goals and encourage self-management.
  • Contribute to a safe, clean, and compliant work environment.
  • Foster a collaborative, trauma-informed culture grounded in respect, transparency, fairness, and learning.
  • Model accountability, professionalism, and effective communication, helping to set the tone for the care team.
  • Contribute to quality improvement efforts, including outcome tracking, process refinement, and value-based care initiatives.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Utah Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A or B
  • Department of Transportation (DOT) medical card
  • Proof of insurability for company auto insurance
  • Six months of experience driving a commercial vehicle (RV, bus, ambulance, or other large vehicle)
  • Safe driving record with no more than two moving violations in the previous year.
  • No convictions for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs within the past ten years
    • Two or more chargeable accidents within a year. Chargeable means that the driver is determined to be the primary cause of the accident through speeding, inattention, etc.
    • Or any combination of accidents and/or moving violations
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and spreadsheet management
  • Strong communication skills, including listening, speaking, and writing
  • Leadership, negotiating, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Demonstrate cultural humility and sensitivity when working with diverse populations
