Job Description Summary
Organization's Summary Statement:Under general supervision performs semi-skilled tasks assisting journeyman level tradesmen and technician personnel in performing a variety of building/facility support tasks utilizing knowledge of building operations and maintenance repair techniques, materials, tools, and equipment.
Physical Demands:
Must be able to work in, on, around, over and under fixed equipment and machinery; to work in confined spaces; to be exposed to extremes of temperature and weather; may be required to work at great heights and on ladders up to 35 feet.
Must have the ability to stand and walk up to 8 hours per day and to lift and carry up to 30 lbs. on a regular basis, 50 pounds occasionally, and exert force up to 70lbs; must be able to manipulate multiple controls on machinery and equipment.
Must be able to wear and work in personal protective equipment.
The incumbent is required to wear Uniforms and Safety Footwear provided by the University.
All tools are provided by the employer.
Work hours are Mon-Fri. 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM (work schedule may be adjusted with notice by management to meet operational needs). However, this position is considered ESSENTIAL and is subject to a 24 hr./day, 7 day/wk. span of operation.
Preferences:
One year of full-time experience in facility maintenance or related labor field. Experience working in a higher education setting a plus.
Licenses/ Certifications:
Incumbent may travel on/off campus as duties may require. While a license is not required for this position, if the incumbent is driving a State vehicle, must possess and maintain a valid Maryland Class “C” driver’s license or equivalent with fewer than 6 points.
