Job Summary - Essential Job Functions of the Project Manager:

  • Start open lines of communication between all project stakeholders, confirm dates, and review schedules *Review and manage present or potential job issues
  • Attend pre-construction meetings to review job specific elements and confirm pay estimate procedures and submission dates *Determine dates and times of progressive construction meetings and attend as required *Develop work orders for use by Field Supervisors.
  • Set up preliminary work (facilitate project lay-out and material orders)
  • Develop and manage field work schedules from commencement to completion
  • Develop and control change orders as necessary and confirm procedures with appropriate stakeholders
  • Obtain contracts for subcontractors
  • Ensure the submission of submittal requirements to the owner and/or engineer
  • Maintain timely, detailed Excel based tracking of work completed, work remaining, crew hours, and materials used
  • Review and address job-specific problems and personnel issues
  • Make scheduling adjustments as required through communication with the General Manager of Operations, Senior Project Manager and Field Operations Managers
  • Manage periodic pay estimates: >Submit tracking spreadsheet to the Administrative Manager and Controller >Review quantities and pay requests with the project engineer >Follow-up on pay requests with owner & engineer to confirm payment dates
  • Submit billing information to the Controller and Accounting staff.
  • Address time and cost over runs in a timely manner to the appropriate stakeholders; document each occurrence
  • Address punch list items and resolutions with the General Manager of Operations, Senior Project Manager and the Field Operations Managers
  • Perform other tasks as directed by the CEO, COO, General Manager of Operations and Senior Project Manager.

General Expectations of the Project Manager:

  • Meet with field crews at Insight Pipe’s shop at 5:45am, daily
  • Work from approximately 5:45am-4pm, Monday through Friday (exact days and hours are subject to change based on current needs and work load
  • Maintain communication with Field Supervisors throughout the day; be available (via phone) to the Field Supervisors and Field Operations Managers while field work is being completed (days and times may vary)
  • Submit daily reports of the previous day’s job revenue and notable activity by 8am, daily
  • Remain in constant communication with the General Manager of Operations, Senior Project Manager and Field Operations Managers regarding job issues and scheduling
  • Communicate with the Administrative Manager and Controller regarding pay estimates and invoices
  • Communicate with the CEO, COO, Chief Estimator, and Controller, as directed
  • Perform jobsite visits, as required *Ensure Company compliance with all laws, rules, and regulations as they relate to assigned projects
  • Maintain positive relationships with all clients and Company personnel
  • Continually increase personal knowledge of market trends and industry changes, competition, new products/services, and potential strategic partners by maintaining relationships with industry associations and other industry related activities
  • Always keep the “good of the Company” in mind when making all business decisions, while maintaining a high level of professionalism with employees, customers, vendors, suppliers, and the public

Minimum Requirements of the Project Manager:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred, or equivalent additional experience required
  • Strong computer skills (MS Office Applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)with an emphasis on robust Excel competencies
  • Strong and professional communication skills; both written and oral
  • Ability to handle multiple projects at the same time
  • Excellent time management, organizational, and prioritization skills
  • Quick leaner with the ability to rapidly modify approach in response to changes and challenges
  • Strong problem solving and decision making ability
  • Must have a minimum Class C driver’s license and a current DOT medical card
  • Subject to pre-employment and random drug testing
  • Subject to background check and driving record review
  • Physical requirements include: sitting, standing, walking, bending, light lifting (typically less than 25lbs), and driving a vehicle
