Job Description:
Duties/Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive, developmentally appropriate orthotic care to infants, toddlers, preschool, school-aged, and adolescent patients who require intervention.
Assist the physician and clinic team in the design and development of new and innovative orthotic devices based on patient needs.
Documents in Epic / OPIE in a thorough, consistent and expedient manner so as to assure we are in compliance with Hospital, Departmental, State and Federal guidelines. (Documentation should be completed within 24 hours 90% of the time. Prosthetic L-Codes and Justifications should be completed within one week from casting 90% of the time.)
Participates actively in supporting, implementing, and educating Residents or other staff as appropriate regarding new technology. (Examples include learning to fit high-end O&P devices or helping to improve knowledge and use of Epic, Opie, etc.)
Attend clinics of various disciplines to assist the clinic team in formulating treatment plans.
Take negative impressions, scans, or measurements, and modify molds for fabrication and perform all follow-up care.
Obtain optimum fit and alignment of all orthotic devices.
Work as a team member with our clinical and technical staff for the treatment of all orthotic patients.
Required Skills/Abilities
Bachelors required/Masters preferred degree in Orthotics and Prosthetics.
Certification in Orthotics and Prosthetics with the American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics, and Pedorthics inc. or obtained within 6 months of employment.
Basic LIfe Support Certification required.
Must have current license to practice as an Orthotist and Prosthetist in the state of Texas by the Texas Board of Licensing and Regulations (TDLR) or obtain within 6 months of employment.
Must remain in good standing with ABC and TDLR by meeting all MCE requirements and codes of ethical conduct.
Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to manage a constant influx of activity.
Previous experience, particularly in pediatrics preferred.
