The General Manager holds full profit and loss responsibility for a manufacturing and installation business unit of approximately 250 employees located in Fayette, AL. This role is accountable for setting the strategic direction of the business, supporting the commercial organization, managing capital planning, driving growth initiatives, and overseeing cash management.

The GM will lead manufacturing operations through a team of functional managers and front-line supervisors, ensuring continuous improvement in productivity, quality, and both customer and employee satisfaction. This position includes direct and indirect leadership responsibilities across the facility.

The General Manager provides oversights for all core business functions, including finance, marketing, sales, manufacturing, engineering, materials management, quality assurance/control, human resources, and information systems. Acting as the facility’s ambassador, the GM represents the company to customers and the local community, demonstrating best-in-class manufacturing processes and quality standards. Additionally, the GM will oversee all aspects of manufacturing operations and support dealer-direct sales to drive sustainable growth in revenue and profitability.

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop a positive business environment centered around the customer
  • Build, develop and maintain a strong leadership team
  • Lead the manufacturing fulfillment (manufacturing, up-fitting, customer service, quality).
  • Reporting financial results and leading business process improvements.
  • Managing policy deployment in the areas of Lean manufacturing techniques, quality, cost reduction, on-time delivery, safety, customer satisfaction, employee relations, visual controls and plant performance measures.
  • Provides leadership for employee relations through effective communications, coaching, training and development.
  • Manages material requirements to increase inventory turns and reduce levels on hand.
  • Ensures compliance with company standards for cost control, waste reduction, quality, safety and on-time delivery.
  • Ensures compliance with company needs for capital investments and improvement projects.
  • Works with inter and intra plant teams to drive operational excellence and process optimization ideas through KPI’s that exist and improvement with new KPI’s.
  • Measuring the performance of company goals and standards and establishing targets for improvements in safety, quality, cost, delivery and employee relations.

 

Qualifications:

  • Proven ability to translate best practices into actionable results.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, lean, cross-functional manufacturing environment.
  • Strong computer proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Results-oriented, high-energy leader with integrity, confidence, and innovation.

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or related field preferred.
  • Experience in truck equipment manufacturing or an adjacent industry.
  • 5+ Years of experience working in Management in a manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated success managing full P&L and leading operations.
  • Commercial experience developing and supporting a dealer network.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with employees and customers.
  • Experienced in financial and operational analysis.
  • Team-oriented leader with high integrity and strong problem-solving skills.

 

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to move throughout the manufacturing facility, including walking, standing, and climbing stairs.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Must be able to work in both office and production environments, which may include exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
  • Requires sufficient visual acuity and manual dexterity to operate a computer, review documents, and inspect production areas.
  • Must be able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by safety policies.
  • Occasional travel may be required to other company sites, customer locations, or industry events.
