Position Summary

The Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the organization’s systems and network infrastructure while ensuring optimal performance, security, and reliability. This role blends hands-on technical expertise in systems and network administration with project management responsibilities to plan, execute, and deliver infrastructure initiatives. The ideal candidate will collaborate across departments and vendors to support both day-to-day operations and long-term technology goals.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Systems Administration:
    • Install, configure, and maintain operating systems (Windows and Linux), servers, software applications, and hardware components.
    • Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues.
    • Implement and enforce security policies and best practices.
    • Manage user accounts and permissions.
    • Perform and monitor regular system backups and disaster recovery operations.
  • Network Engineering:
    • Design, deploy, and maintain network infrastructures (including LAN, WAN, and cloud environments).
    • Configure and troubleshoot network devices like routers, switches, and firewalls.
    • Implement network security measures (e.g., VPNs, intrusion detection/prevention systems).
    • Monitor network performance and identify/resolve issues.
  • Project Management:
    • Lead and oversee network infrastructure projects from planning to execution and delivery.
    • Develop and manage project plans, timelines, and budgets.
    • Coordinate with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and vendors.
    • Manage project risks and implement mitigation plans.
    • Communicate project status and updates to stakeholders.
  • Other Duties
    • Perform other duties, as assigned.

Skill & Abilities

  • Strong understanding of operating systems, networking protocols, network hardware and software, cybersecurity practices, virtualization platforms (such as VMware or Hyper-V), and cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP), with proven troubleshooting abilities.
  • Experience applying project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall) for effective planning, resource coordination, and risk management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and perform well under pressure.
  • Dependable, self-motivated, and able to work both independently and collaboratively while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Willingness to travel, if needed.

Education & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field, preferred but not required.
  • At least ten years of relative experience in system administration, network engineering and project management.
  • Field related certifications/designations preferred but not required.
