As a Senior Specialist, Technical Programs you will act as a subject matter expert for the requirements for Food Equipment Certification. This role will conduct evaluation and quality assurance reviews for a wide range of Food Equipment products and materials. This role provides training and support to a team of Technical Reviewers and provides oversight of the certification process by completing certification decisions and quality control of product reviews to ensure accuracy and consistent decisions. This role will collaborate with the technical scheme lead to set internal policy, develop technical interpretations, develop standard operating procedures and support process improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Perform evaluation and quality assurance reviews of products, client documentation and test reports against established policies/guidelines/standards/regulations

  • Provide technical training to technical reviewers to ensure competency

  • Own major policy or certification decisions, leads cross functional projects, routinely represents the organization in standards committees

  • Develop technical interpretations to properly and consistently evaluate products and materials used in products to the appropriate standards, guidelines, and regulations

  • Develop standard operating procedures and guideline documents detailing the processes involved in evaluating products and materials used in products

  • Provide technical training to clients and deliver presentations to manufacturers, trade associations, regulatory agencies and other relevant stakeholders, as needed

  • Participate in the development, implementation, and revisions of standards, certification policies and guidelines

  • Monitor ongoing compliance of certified products to ensure compliance to the Food Equipment standards is maintained

  • Participate in quality and accreditation activities, including the support of compliance complaint investigations

  • Represent NSF to committees, industry task groups, associations or other external stakeholder groups as assigned 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental health, chemistry or related field
  • Minimum of five (5) years of relevant work experience 
  • Working knowledge of NSF/ANSI Food Equipment standards and test methods
  • Excellent time management, organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to clearly communicate complex and technical concepts
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Demonstrated project and time management skills
  • Ability to travel up to 15% of the time for client evaluations, tradeshows, conferences, etc
  • Ability to work in a hybrid capacity
