About the Department

Education Assistants support Lead Educators in a variety of educational programming that occurs at the museum and off-site at schools and community partner locations. Education Assistants model the power of play by being active program participants, providing constructive support and direction, and enjoying activities as much as the children in attendance do!

This part-time position will not exceed 20 hours per week. Education Assistants must be available for flexible scheduling based on programming needs, including evenings and weekends. Most programs occur between 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m., Monday – Sunday.

Since 1994 the Children’s Discovery Museum has been inspiring a love of learning through the power of play. The Museum is a three-story, 34,000 square foot LEED certified building with numerous hands-on, interactive exhibit galleries. The mission of the Children’s Discovery Museum is to nurture the whole-child by encouraging critical thinking, engaging creative expression, and stimulating curiosity through interactive play. Our high-quality exhibits, programs, and partnerships serve children and families in Central Illinois and beyond.
