Description
The Purchasing and Materials Manager will oversee purchasing, warehouse, and material control operations to implement procedures, manage inventory, coordinate procurement activities, and lead departmental staff. This position is responsible for ensuring timely acquisition of materials, maintaining optimal inventory levels, and driving process improvements across purchasing and logistics functions.
- Manage purchasing activities to ensure timely acquisition of materials for production
- Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and vendors
- Research and resolve recurring parts and supply issues
- Oversee quality control of incoming materials and products
- Utilize Epicor and other organizational tools with proper execution
- Train, coach, motivate, and lead departmental staff
- Coordinate with warehouse and material control teams to maintain efficient operations
- Lead streamlining projects to improve procurement and inventory flow
- Troubleshoot and resolve operational difficulties related to purchasing and materials
- Conduct performance evaluations for team members
- Create and manage requisitions for materials required for operations
- Maintain optimal inventory levels and manage overstock materials
- Oversee consistent cycle counts and inventory audits
- Ensure compliance with all safety and company policy regulations
- Maintain clean and orderly work areas within department
- Promote fair and respectful treatment of all team members in accordance with company policies and laws
- Demonstrate commitment to scheduled work hours and team leadership

Requirements
- Education and/or experience equivalent to a 4-year degree
- 3-5 years in a managerial role in purchasing or materials management
- 2 years in process development and improvement
- Experience in a manufacturing environment or similar
- Strong computer skills including use of MS Office, and ability to develop efficiency with proprietary Epicor software
- Problem solving skills and ability to work effectively under deadlines
- Ability to work and communicate across various departments and positions within the organization
- Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and concisely in both written and verbal formats
- Ability to identify (through both observation and conversation) key requirements needed to streamline processes
- Must be able to communicate (read, write and speak) the English language clearly
