Job Title: Warehouse Operations Manager

Essential Function

  • Responsible for most Operational and Financial aspects of the distribution center including budgeting and budget performance, work schedule planning, managing and coordinating the receipt, storage, sortation and distribution of beauty products, supplies, returns, transfers, special orders, show orders, deal breaks, and store fixtures. Ensures the accuracy, timeliness, cost effectiveness and DOT/FAA compliance of product movement for all customer and/or store orders. Ensures the integrity of all warehouse inventories with compliance to all ICC rules and policies. Assists Director of Distribution with employee relation concerns including payroll, recruiting, performance reviews, policy communication and enforcement, and conflict resolution. Provides a safe, healthy and secure work environment for employees by assisting the Director of Distribution in continually addressing all ergonomic or health issues.

Primary Duties

Provide clear, concise statements using action verbs to describe what is done, with or for whom the action is taken and the purpose or outcome to be achieved. Responsibilities should be listed in order of percentage of time spent performing the actual duty.

  • 15%: Provides a safe, healthy and secure work environment for employees by assisting the Director of Distribution in and enforcing company safety, ergonomic, egress, hazardous training/Right to know, Shipping of Dangerous Goods, loss prevention and other related programs; creating and enforcing site specific addendums to such policies; performing and monitoring proactive reviews of such programs; and communicating issues/infractions to upper management and taking appropriate action regarding offenses.
  • 15%: Assisting Director of Distribution with budget preparation and maintaining efficient cost control by operating within the operational budget set for the distribution center.
  • 10%: Maintain accurate, efficient and current receiving status including communicating related issues and concerns to upper management and merchandising.
  • 10%: Maintain accurate inventories by performing cycle counts and/or conduct an annual physical inventory, auditing inventory control related processes to control and minimize inventory shrink.
  • 10%: Maintain accurate, efficient and current shipping status.
  • 10%: Assists in developing and maintain training; educational programs and career advancement opportunities for employees.
  • 10%: Provide a positive workplace environment in order to maintain a union free environment.
  • 5%: Ensure good communications with customers, field and corporate office.
  • 5%: Work with Merchandising on vendor Purchase Order discrepancies.
  • 5%: Assist Transportation Manager to achieve lowest possible freight cost for a specified service level.
  • 3%: Assist in Warehouse Management System development/upgrades.
  • 2%: Perform all other duties as requested by management.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Indicate the minimum qualifications required to perform the job: work experience (including type of work and number of years required); education (including desired degree and field of study); specify certificate or license requirements.

  • High school diploma
  • 5 years of direct supervisory experience in a high volume distribution center
  • Experience performing in a goal setting environment

Competencies / Attributes

Indicate relative qualitative or other important aspects that would enhance the ability to perform the job. i.e. detail oriented, customer focused, team player, etc.

  • Proficiency with Excel, Word and PowerPoint programs
  • Practical experience with a Warehouse Management System including inquiry and report writing.

Working Conditions /Physical Requirements

  • Indicate the normal working environment i.e. office, store, warehouse, etc. as well as any physical requirements required to perform the job duties (lifting requirement, dexterity, etc).
  • The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, meeting and training rooms, retail stores, and residences or commercial vehicles, e.g., use of safe work practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, observance of fire regulations and traffic signals, etc. The work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated.
  • The position requires some physical exertion such as long periods of standing; walking; recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching or similar activities; recurring lifting of moderately heavy items such as shipment or record boxes. The work may required specific, but common, physical characteristics and abilities such as above average agility and dexterity.
