Job Title: IT Technician
Terms of Employment: 12 Months

Job Summary:
The position is responsible for assisting with the diagnostics, repair, maintenance, and replacement of digital hardware, software, peripherals, and audio-visual equipment in a manner that complements the needs and organization of the Information Technology Department.
Essential Duties:
- Provides Level 1 Support to end users;
- Configures, installs, and maintains computers, tablets, system software, software applications, printers, scanners, projectors, interactive panels, A/V equipment, etc.;
- Troubleshoot problems with computer systems, including troubleshooting hardware and software, e-mail, network, and peripheral equipment problems. Makes repairs and corrections where required;
- Acts as a technical resource in assisting users to resolve problems with equipment and data; helps facilitate the exchange of information and advice; implements solutions or notifies level 2 support as required;
- Makes hardware and software acquisition recommendations, including helping users assess needs and providing justification for equipment and services;
- Maintains constant communication with the Lead IT Technician;
- Assists with the planning, design, research, and acquisition of new or upgraded hardware and software systems; maintains current knowledge of hardware, software, and network technology and recommends modifications as necessary;
- Maintains working knowledge of recent and updated technologies through additional training and IT certifications;
- Possesses the ability to communicate effectively and positively both orally and in writing with teachers, administrators, and other staff;
- Other duties as assigned by the Lead IT Technician, IT Coordinator, or the Director of Information Technology;
Minimum Education and Experience Qualifications:
A high school diploma is required, and a computer science degree or technical school training is desirable. The CompTIA A+ Certification is also required. Two (2) years of experience in diagnostics, repair, modification, and maintenance of computers and related hardware is required. A working knowledge of Microsoft Operating Systems, Chrome OS, and Office products is also required. Microsoft and/or other computer science certifications are a plus. The IT Technician must make every effort to stay current with the latest technologies through job-specific training and additional IT certifications. A current, valid Virginia driver’s license and the ability to work both independently and cooperatively with staff are a must. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the School Board may find appropriate and acceptable
