Freese and Nichols has an exciting summer internship within our Public Relations/Communications team in our San Marcos, TX office. As a PR/Communications intern, you will develop internal and external communications to advance business development and recruitment objectives. This internship will require you to be in office each day to help build connections with your group, fellow interns, and others. Relocation or housing stipends will NOT be provided for internships.

This role will give you the opportunity to contribute in many ways, including:

  • Contributes to communications messaging, strategies, and tactics.
  • Writes articles and contributes to other multimedia communications about projects, people and technical topics for intranet, website, social media and other platforms.
  • Edits and proofreads content, following Freese and Nichols style guide and AP style.
  • Reports Freese and Nichols news by finding newsworthy stories, interviewing technical and corporate staff, and conducting research. Some stories will be assigned; initiative in developing stories is encouraged.
  • Performs basic graphic design and page layout (digital or print).
  • Archives published articles as needed into our Business Development Customer Relationship Management system.
  • Learns about the Architecture/Engineering/Construction industry, including the capabilities of Freese and Nichols, our strategic plan, and business development and recruitment processes.

Qualifications

  • Current student pursuing a BS or MS in communications, marketing, journalism, English or other related disciplines.
  • Graduation date of August 2026 or later

Preferred Qualification

  • Experience with social media platforms
  • Student organization involvement
  • Experience with Microsoft SharePoint, WordPress, Adobe Creative Suite or similar platforms
  • Collaborative communication tools such as Teams
