Position Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented Sterilization Technician to join our team at Alameda Oral Surgery Group.  In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness and sterilization for all surgical instruments and equipment used in our oral surgery procedures. Your work will directly impact the safety and the overall efficiency of our facility. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.   

Requirements

 

Major Responsibilities: 

  • Operate autoclaves, ultrasonic cleaners, and other sterilization equipment to ensure all surgical instruments and tools are thoroughly cleaned, disinfected, and sterilized according to established protocols.  
  • Maintain accurate records of sterilization processes and equipment maintenance.  
  • Monitor and track inventory of supplies needed for sterilization procedures and surgical procedures.  
  • Adhere to infection control policies and procedures to prevent the spread of pathogens.  
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure efficient workflow and patient care.  
  • Conduct regular quality checks on sterilization processes and troubleshoot any equipment issues.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements: 

  • [70-80]% of your time will be spent standing and 20-30% will be spent sitting.  
  • Fast-paced and busy environment  
  • The role will involve handling cleaning and sterilization agents, which requires adherence to safety guidelines to minimize exposure.  
  • This role is primarily conducted in a sterile processing area or central sterilization room.  
  • Technicians are required to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), such as gloves, masks, gowns, and eyewear to ensure safety and prevent contamination.  
  • Moderate noise levels from dental and other lab equipment.  
  • Medical office and lab setting.  
  • Minimum lifting requirements of [25 – 50] pounds as this role may involve moving boxes of sterilization supplies, transporting trays of instruments, or loading and unloading equipment from sterilizers.  

Qualifications:  

  • High School Degree or higher 
  • Proficiency with computer software 
  • X-Ray Certification (Preferred) 
  • [2] years of experience in a dental or medical setting
