Operating 24 shelters across New York City, URI provides 3,700 beds nightly in purpose-built shelters that offer trauma-informed services including counseling, childcare, case management, and more. POSITION OVERVIEW

The Regional Security Coordinator provides leadership and support to multiple URI facilities, ensuring the highest and most professional execution of quality, trauma-informed security service across the portfolio. The Regional Security Coordinator reports to the Vice President, Safety & Security.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide supervision, leadership development, talent management and resource allocation across a geographic area including several URI facilities.
  • Perform in one of four security sub-specialization areas: talent acquisition and retention, policy implementation and practice, education and training, or threat management and proactive intelligence. Each Regional Security Coordinator will be responsible for one of these areas.
  • Engage security supervisors and security monitors to assist with eliciting professional performance in accordance with URI policies.
  • Review supervision reports, time and attendance, and corrective actions produced by supervisors within the respective region.
  • Act as the primary security supervisor, managing security staff for a single URI location.
  • Author and review professional products including schedules, incident reports, security recommendations and other documents and presentations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

SPECIFICATIONS FOR EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES

  • F-80 fireguard (required)
  • F-02 (optional, preferred)
  • S-95 (optional, as needed)

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Demonstrated ability to supervise employees in security positions
  • Leadership and coaching skills
  • High level of proficiency with physical and electronic access control, security schedules, general security operations
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in trauma-informed environments (preferred)
  • Proficient with MS Office suite- Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word

SPECIFICATIONS FOR PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to walk and/or stand for periods up to one (1) hour.
  • Must be able to lift and carry 15lbs.
  • Will be required to read printed and handwritten materials.
  • Will be required to read information on computer screen.
  • Will be required to use computer keyboard and mouse.
  • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to enter information in digital forms and spreadsheets.
