POSITION SUMMARY

The Epic/Clinical/Community Pharmacist (PharmD) combines frontline pharmacy practice with Epic Willow informatics to improve patient care and pharmacy efficiency. Starting in community pharmacy operations, this role ensures safe, effective workflows while preparing for Willow implementation. As Willow goes live, the pharmacist will help design, test, and train staff, then transition into a balanced role—spending about 50% of their time in pharmacy practice and 50% optimizing Willow across community, specialty, and clinical pharmacy services. This integration strengthens 340B capture, provider collaboration, and patient care.

Qualifications


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

§ Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) required

§ Valid pharmacist license in the State of Texas

§ At least 2 years of pharmacist experience; community/specialty pharmacy experience preferred

§ Prior Epic experience strongly preferred; Epic Willow certification (or willingness to obtain) required within rile

§ Board Certification in Ambulatory Care Pharmacy (BCACP) or Pharmacotherapy (BCPS) preferred, but not required

 

SKILLS

 

· Strong knowledge of community and specialty pharmacy operations, regulations, and best practices

· Ability to translate pharmacy workflows into Epic build requirements and solutions

· Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills

· Strong interpersonal skills for collaborating with providers, pharmacy staff, and IT teams

· Effective teacher and trainer, able to coach staff on new systems and workflows

· Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite

· Ability to function in a dynamic environment balancing clinical and technical responsibilities

 

PRIMARY DUTIES

 

§ Provide direct pharmacy care, including prescription verification, dispensing, patient counseling, and workflow support (approximately 50% of role ongoing)

§ Serve as the pharmacy liaison to the Epic team, ensuring community, specialty, and clinical pharmacy workflows are accurately represented in Epic Willow design and build

§ Obtain Epic Willow certification and demonstrate ongoing proficiency and growth in Epic system knowledge and skills

§ Participate in Epic testing, validation, and implementation activities, including end-user acceptance testing and workflow sign-off

§ Lead training and mentoring for pharmacy staff on Epic Willow functionality, providing at-the-elbow support, efficiency coaching, and reinforcement of best practices

§ Collaborate with providers, care teams, and IT analysts to integrate pharmacy functions into WFM’s vertically connected care model and support 340B capture

§ Support EHR maintenance by consulting with Epic analysts on workflow design and pharmacy content

§ Document build decisions and maintain records to facilitate cross-coverage and collaboration

§ Record break-fix issues and resolution steps in a ticket-based workorder system

§ Participate in governance, upgrades, and optimization cycles to ensure pharmacy services remain efficient, compliant, and patient-centered

 

OTHER DUTIES

 

· Support quality improvement initiatives and regulatory readiness related to pharmacy and Epic workflows

· Develop and update educational materials for pharmacy staff related to Epic Willow and workflow optimization

· Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Pharmacy Services
