Description

SUMMARY

The position of Credit Analyst is responsible for performing duties that support quality underwriting of loan proposals and credit administration which includes report writing and distribution, financial analysis, and special projects as needed.

Duties will be performed in accordance with established policies and procedures.

Assures compliance with all Bank policies and procedures, as well as all applicable state and federal banking regulations.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  1. Work alongside Loan Officers in the creation of a complete loan package for presentation when dictated by policy, or as needed: a) Perform analysis and due diligence in the underwriting process with an emphasis on cash flow analysis, debt coverage capacity, collateral analysis, sensitivity analysis, and market/industry analysis; b) Write loan narratives and summaries when necessary; c) Help ensure that the structuring of loan requests by Loan Officers complies with applicable regulatory requirements, loan policy requirements, and company credit culture; d) Participate in customer calls alongside lenders to assess potential loan opportunities and/or gain knowledge about requests by asking appropriate questions related to the analysis; e) Researching and gaining an understanding of, as well as compiling reports on, particular industries or businesses as needed for loan requests or other situations; f) Build financial models and projections for loan requests or other projects as needed.
  2. Fulfill the credit administration objectives set by the Credit Risk Committee and by management: a) Participate in assigned credit risk functions such as performing stress testing on particular segments of the Bank’s loan portfolio; b) Create and maintain core system reports as needed by the lending group and management. Specifically, designing and administering reports through IBM Cognos; c) Administering and enhancing the workflow of proposals for new loans, renewals, modifications of existing loans, and annual credit reviews, from their beginning as a request by the Loan Officer, through their approval by the appropriate internal body; d) Take committee minutes and formally document committee approvals on loan packages; e) Manage financial document review / tracking and assign credit exceptions when necessary as set forth in loan policy; f) Coordinate and compile information as needed for workflow between the banks legal counsel or internally with loan review for problem loan management and documentation.
  3. Perform a variety of tasks to enhance and support the credit function within the bank: a) Participate in business development activities in coordination with strategic initiatives; b) Perform collateral inspections for potential, as well as existing loans as needed.
  4. When in the process of underwriting, or in other courses of business, clearly communicate and document credit concerns and questions to Loan Officers and/or appropriate management.
  5. Thorough understanding of all loan policies and procedures.
  6. Operates computer terminal or personal computer to process loan activity, determine balances, and resolve problems within given authority.

  11. Performs the position safely, without endangering the health or safety to themselves or others and will be expected to report potentially unsafe conditions. The employee shall comply with occupational safety and health standards and all rules, regulations and orders issued pursuant to the OSHA Act of 1970, which are applicable to one’s own actions and conduct.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

The position of Credit Analyst is not responsible for the supervision of any employee(s).


ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITY

The employee is in a non-confined office-type setting in which he or she is free to move about at will. The position includes driving a Bank or personal owned vehicle approximately 10% of the time which includes exposure to the outside weather elements and moving mechanical parts. It may include some minor annoyances such as noise, odors, drafts, etc.

The employee in the course of performing this position spends time writing, typing, speaking, listening, lifting (up to 25 pounds), carrying, seeing (such as close, color and peripheral vision, depth perception and adjusted focus), sitting, pulling, walking, standing, squatting, kneeling and reaching.

The employee for this position may operate any or all of the following: telephone, cellular telephone, beeper, copy and fax machines, adding machine (calculator), check protector, microfilm equipment, encoder, money counter, credit card terminal, typewriter, computer terminal, personal computer and related printers.

Qualifications


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

These specifications are general guidelines based on the minimum experience normally considered essential to the satisfactory performance of this position.   • High school diploma and 4-year certificate from college or technical school; or 5 years related experience and/or training; or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Work related experience should consist of a credit or loan servicing background. Educational experience, through in-house training sessions, formal school, or financial industry related curriculum, should be business or financial industry related.
  • Basic experience, knowledge and training in lending activities, terminology and products and services.
  • Basic knowledge of related state and federal banking compliance regulations, and other Bank lending policies.
  • Basic skills in computer terminal and personal computer operation; mainframe computer system; word processing, spreadsheet, and specialty software programs.
  • Basic typing skills to meet production needs of the position.
  • Basic math skills; calculate interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages; balance accounts; add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; locate routine mathematical errors; compute rate, ratio, and percent.
  • Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions, interpret documents, understand procedures, write reports and correspondence, and speak clearly to customers and employees.
  • Ability to deal with routine problems involving multiple facets and variables in standardized situations.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work with general supervision while performing duties.
  • Current Arkansas driver’s license and a vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage if required to drive in the course of performing assigned duties and responsibilities.
