Role Purpose
The Vice President, Sales Engineering and Field Strategy is a global executive role reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer (CCO). This leader owns the technical sales strategy and sales engineering execution across all global sales motions, ensuring technical validation (scoping), competitive differentiation, and customer trust at every stage of the sales cycle, including cross and individual domain expertise for both professional and managed services. The VP is accountable for building and scaling a world-class sales engineering and bid management function, delivering tailored, scalable solutions that drive business growth and align with go-to-market priorities. This role partners closely with Sales, Product, Marketing, and Customer Success to ensure a consistent, high-impact approach to solution's and bid delivery worldwide.
Responsibilities
Global Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing, globally distributed sales engineering (including solution architects) and bid management team.
- Foster a culture of technical excellence, accountability, and cross-functional collaboration.
Technical Sales Strategy & Execution
- Define and execute a global pre-sales strategy aligned with enterprise sales motions and business objectives.
- Guide technical qualification, solution architecture (including scoping activity), and value proposition development to ensure optimal technical fit and customer outcomes.
- Drive technical validation (including cross and individual capability lines), solution demonstrations, and proposal support to accelerate pre-sales velocity and conversion rates.
Customer Engagement & Solutioning
- Engage directly with clients to understand complex business needs and deliver compelling, technically robust solutions that address risk, compliance, and business value, which includes accountability for technical scoping.
- Ensure scalable solutioning that aligns with NCC Group’s go-to-market priorities and differentiates the company in competitive pursuits.
Bid Management Excellence
- Oversee the end-to-end bid lifecycle, ensuring high-quality, timely delivery of complex bids, proposals, and RFP responses.
- Establish and enforce global methodologies, playbooks, and enablement frameworks for consistent, best-in-class bid management.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Sales, Product, Marketing, Delivery, Legal, and Finance to align solution design, pricing, and service definitions throughout the bid and sales engineering process.
- Champion operational discipline and continuous improvement across all pre-sales and bid management activities.
Performance & Enablement
- Establish and track global KPIs, dashboards, and operational cadences to measure and drive pre-sales and bid management effectiveness.
- Ensure team readiness through robust enablement programs, technical certifications, and ongoing skills development.
Success Measures
- Increased win rates and shortened sales cycles through effective pre-sales and bid strategy execution.
- High-quality, timely delivery of complex bids, proposals, and RFP responses.
- Pre-sales contribution to pipeline growth, technical validations, and strategic deal influence.
- Consistent global adoption of pre-sales methodologies, playbooks, and enablement frameworks.
- Positive stakeholder and customer feedback on solution quality and pre-sales support.
Functional and technical skills:
- Extensive experience in solution engineering, and/or technical sales leadership roles, ideally within cybersecurity or technology / managed / professional services.
- Proven success leading global teams in complex, high-value sales environments.
- Deep understanding of enterprise sales cycles, bid development, and technical solutioning.
- Demonstrated ability to support complex deals and navigate technical and commercial risk.
