Position Overview:

As a Tools Engineering Tech Lead, you will solution, build, and maintain essential event-driven and automation platforms, guiding both the technical strategy and a team of engineers to deliver resilient, scalable solutions with Confluent Kafka, AWS AMQ, BMC Control-M, and Google Apigee. Collaborating across teams and stakeholders, you’ll champion best practices, foster innovation, and ensure operational excellence in strategic and hands-on initiatives supporting enterprise technology.

Your Impact:

  • Platform Technical Leadership: Serve as the technical authority and subject matter expert for Confluent Kafka, AWS AMQ, BMC Control-M, and Google Apigee platforms. Define standards, ensure alignment with enterprise architecture, and drive adoption of new features and enhancements.

  • Team Mentorship: Guide a high-performing engineering team through coaching, code reviews, architectural decision-making, and driving professional development. Foster a collaborative environment that values knowledge sharing and innovation.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with product owners, application teams, and IT leadership to translate business requirements into technical deliverables and solution blueprints. Manage vendor relationships and evaluate third-party tools as required.

  • Operational Excellence: Establish monitoring, alerting, and incident response protocols to maintain platform reliability and performance. Drive automation for deployment, configuration management, and system health checks.

  • Continuous Improvement: Identify process and system gaps, implement industry best practices, advocate for continuous learning by staying updated on emerging technologies, frameworks, and methodologies.

  • Documentation & Compliance: Ensure comprehensive documentation of architectures, workflows, and operational procedures. Enforce compliance with regulatory and internal security standards.

  • Provide 24x7 support to ensure the continuous and reliable operation of engineering tools and systems, addressing any issues that arise promptly and effectively.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Equivalent work experience will be considered.

  • 8+ years of progressive experience in platform engineering, or infrastructure roles, with at least 2+ years in a technical leadership capacity.

  • Demonstrated expertise in implementing and managing large-scale deployments of Confluent Kafka and/or AWS AMQ.

  • Hands-on experience with BMC Control-M for automation and job orchestration in complex enterprise environments.

  • Strong background with API management platforms, preferably Google Apigee, including API security, policies, and analytics.

  • Solid understanding of cloud architecture (AWS required) and hybrid-cloud integration patterns.

  • Extensive experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar) and CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab, etc.).

  • Proficiency with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and microservices architectures.

  • Strong programming/scripting skills in Python and Java.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, agile environment and manage competing priorities with a high degree of self-motivation.

  • Certifications in relevant technologies (e.g., Confluent Certified Administrator, AWS Solutions Architect) are highly valued.

This position has an annualized market-based salary range of $145,000 - $217,000 and is eligible to participate in the annual incentive program. The final salary offered will generally fall within this range and is dependent on various factors including but not limited to the responsibilities of the position, experience, skill set, internal pay equity and other relevant qualifications of the applicant.
