Under general supervision, provides extensive expertise to teach Advanced Manufacturing courses as part of the Career and Technical Education (CTE) Program. Designs and implements an effective and appropriate educational and vocational training program for assigned students to prepare them for employment; works collaboratively with pupils, parents, support staff, administrators, health organizations, agencies, and community groups to enhance the training and employment opportunities for students.
Duties and Responsibilities
•Plans, organizes, and presents instruction and instructional environments which help students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their educational and social development.
•Provides learning experiences and teaches the course of study prescribed by the District and State approved curriculum.
•Develops and uses instructional materials suitable for verbal and/or visual instruction of students in a Trades & Industrial program.
•Provides individual and group instruction designed to meet individual needs and motivate students.
•Establishes and maintains standards of student control required to achieve effective participation in all activities.
•Evaluates academic and social growth of students and keeps appropriate records.
•Identifies student needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve health, attitude, and learning problems.
•Selects and requisitions instructional materials; maintains inventory records.
•Cooperates in school-wide supervision of students during out-of-classroom activities; supervises students in fieldwork.
•Participates in faculty and/or district committees and the sponsorship of student activities.
•Develops lesson plans related to advanced manufacturing and design.
•Works directly with students in the laboratory to design and develop prototype models.
•Teaches students how to use the software and machines in the Advanced Manufacturing classroom.
•Follow all safety procedures.
•Assist in the fabrication and design phases of their projects.
•Provides normal maintenance of the lab machines and ensures that inventory of materials and parts is up to date and available.
•Utilizes classroom management techniques conducive to an effective classroom climate.
•Uses appropriate techniques and strategies which promote and enhance the critical, creative, and innovative thinking capabilities of students.
•Takes all necessary safety precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
•Performs other related work as required.

•Ability to deal with people beyond giving and receiving instructions. Must be adaptable to performing under stress and when confronted with emergency situations.

Physical Requirements
•Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of reaching, walking, standing, talking, lifting, hearing, and repetitive motions.
•Must be able to perform medium work exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
•Must possess the visual acuity to prepare data, work with records processes and do extensive reading and research.
Minimum Education and Experience
•Minimum High School Diploma; Preferred Associate’s degree in area of licensure.
•Work experience required (years vary depending on the degree, as defined by NC Dept. of Public Instruction).
•Current Certified Production Technician (CPT) Certifications preferred.
•North Carolina Teacher Certification in High School Trades & Industrial Manufacturing (74090) or eligible for licensure.
•Passing scores on the Praxis I Pre-Professional Skills Assessment OR Asset OR Accuplacer OR WorkKeys prior to 2nd year of teaching (Teachers who have a Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree are exempt from this requirement).
•The following must be earned before the expiration of the initial teaching license:
o Certified Production Technician (CPT) certifications
