We're looking for a skilled Pre-Admission Testing Nurse to join our Ambulatory Surgery Center team in Louisville, KY. In this role, you'll prepare patients for surgery by coordinating pre-operative assessments, managing patient communications, and ensuring all necessary tests are completed. You'll perform initial verbal assessments, review medical histories, and explain the surgical process to patients and their families.


Responsibilities 

  • Practice appropriate telephone and patient triage skills, being aware of the need to balance quality care with efficient use of time and resources.
  • Perform verbal assessment with patient prior to admission – in person or via telephone, communicating information to appropriate team members.
  • Thoroughly document all call encounters utilizing manual and/or online information systems at the time of the call.
  • Communicate arrival time and NPO instructions to patients as prescribed.
  • Alert anesthesia of results of labs, physical assessment, or special needs of individual with medical problems prior to the date of surgery.
  • Provides direct patient care, evaluates outcomes, consults with other specialists as required and adjusts nursing care processes as indicated to ensure safe patient care.
  • Writes or obtains initial nursing histories, assesses patients' conditions and develops individual care plans; maintains patient documentation.
  • Notifies the appropriate physician regarding any unusual or unexpected events or problems requiring direct physician consultation.
  • Works with other members of the interdisciplinary patient care team, implements and reinforces patient instructional needs with the patient and family, offering informational material and pointing out special areas of concern.
  • Evaluates outcomes of patient care, consults with other specialists as needed, and adjusts nursing care processes as necessary to ensure optimal patient care.
  • Identifies and resolves workplace health and safety issues.
  • Provides appropriate, direct patient care utilizing appropriate aseptic techniques.
  • Complies with policies, procedures, regulations, and standards and takes corrective action when violations occur.
  • Orients, instructs, and educates assigned personnel.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality (HIPAA).
  • All other duties as assigned to support the mission, values, and strategies of CPIhealth.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent. Successful completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nursing program. 
  • Previous related experience preferred. 
  • Experience with EMR (NextGen/ECW) preferred.
  • Ability to independently apply skills and job knowledge with supervision.
  • Strong organizational, judgment, communication and analytical skills; sometimes under pressure. 
  • Ability to multi-task and perform multiple priorities. 
  • Cooperative and professional behavior toward patients, peers, providers, management and visitors.
  • Awareness of others' reactions and understanding why they react as they do. Ability to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (includes finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events).
  • Ability to promote favorable facility image with patients, providers, insurance companies and general public.
  • Ability to independently make decisions and solve problems; ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.
  • Evidence of leadership qualities. The ability to contribute in a team environment and provide excellent customer service.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office. 


Licenses & Certifications

  • Current state registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
  • BLS certified or obtain certification within three months of hire. ACLS certificated or obtain certification within the first year of hire.

Pay rate: $36/hour and up (depending on experience)
