Facilitates comprehensive quality patient care following facilities policy and procedure and under supervision of a preceptor. With proper supervision, provides a broad range of duties including but not limited to, administrative and clinical functions within their scope of practice and training.
Job Duties:Routine duties shall include providing health care services to individuals eligible for services in accordance with the self-governance compact and funding agreement between the Cherokee Nation and the United States executed under the authority of the Indian Self-Determination and Education Assistance Act.
Administrative
Answers telephone. Unit clerk responsibilities with supervision.
Clinical
All clinical activities are performed under the supervision of authorized personnel.
Takes and records vital signs. Prepares patient for examination. Provides patient education consistent with policy and individual patient needs. Assists with medical examinations and procedures including IV start. Restocks supplies inpatient rooms. Collects and prepares laboratory specimens. Removes sutures. Changes dressings. Performs EKG. Uses Electronic Health Records in compliance with unit practice. Documentation appropriate for the care given and tasks performed. Administers/assists patient with Activities of Daily Living (ADL). Adheres to professional and ethical standards. Except for administering medications, this position uses training from educational clinics or orientation to provide basic nursing skills in developing a plan of care and/or performing patient assessments. Provides Human Resources with a copy of all licensures, certifications, renewal of licensures, and certifications upon receipt thereof. Other duties may be assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
No supervisory responsibility.
Qualifications:EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT
Must currently be enrolled in a program of registered nursing or between terms/semesters; or has completed a program of registered nursing and has applied to write the licensure examination. The graduate may continue to be employed in a Nurse Technician role until licensed in any state, territory, or country, provided that the first licensure examination is taken within 90 days after graduation and the examination is passed within 6 months of graduation, on either the first or the second attempt.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT
No additional experience required.
COMPUTER SKILLS
An individual should have knowledge of Database software; Spreadsheet software, and Word Processing software.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must currently be enrolled in a program of registered nursing or between terms/semesters; or has completed a program of registered nursing and has applied to write the licensure examination. The graduate may continue to be employed in a Nurse Technician role until licensed in any state, territory, or country, provided that the first licensure examination is taken within 90 days after graduation and the examination is passed within 6 months of graduation, on either the first or the second attempt. Basic Life Support (BLS) can be obtained during orientation and must be maintained throughout employment.

The employee must not be and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG’s Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA’s List of Excluded Providers; or listed on the OIG’s List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE).
Must meet and maintain pre-employment and periodic background investigation and adjudication for child care.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste or smell. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of radiation. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
