Description

Under the direct supervision of the Chief Financial Officer, this position is responsible for complex maintenance, construction, and supervisory work.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Planning, assigning, and scheduling staff for the installation, care and repair of Center facilities, furniture, equipment, and vehicles.  Works closely with property owners to ensure leased facilities are properly maintained or built to Center needs. Supervises the work of multiple staff to include, maintenance techs, janitorial and fleet.  Develops all policies and procedures that govern the above activities. Responsible for working closely with the Center’s Contract Specialist to put together a request for proposal to secure contractors.  Will monitor, inspect, and oversee all work performed by contractors.   Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Works under general supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.  HFC incorporates principles of trauma-informed care throughout the agency, emphasizing cultural sensitivity and a safe and respectful environment for all individuals served and staff.  All job descriptions include the responsibility to learn about and implement trauma-informed practices within the scope of work for the position. Qualifications


Education, Training, and Experience

High School graduate or GED. Experience in general construction and maintenance work preferred.   

Must have current driver’s license and be insurable under Center insurance.  Must pass and maintain all Center-mandated trainings.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of negotiation strategies and techniques.
  • Knowledge of contract administration and cost monitoring.
  • Knowledge of building and grounds maintenance; of construction techniques; of plumbing and heating systems; of electrical systems; of sanitation practices; of fire and safety regulations and procedures; of painting, carpentry, and welding techniques; of steel fabrication; of inspection procedure; and of local building codes.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws and regulations relevant to the administration of federal and state funds.
  • Ability to analyze complex information, interpret complex data, contracts, correspondence, and various reports. 
  • Ability to write bids, Board agenda items, memos, letters, various complex reports, and other miscellaneous documents with proper spelling and grammar.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications; to organize preventative maintenance programs; to develop effective work methods; to draw rough sketches of proposed projects; to communicate effectively; and to supervise the work of others.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, consumers, families, contractors, vendors, agencies, and the public.
  • Display a customer service orientation; always treat customers as equals and partners. 
  • Skill in the use of tools and equipment and in prioritizing work schedules.
  • Skill in operating standard office equipment (phone, fax, personal computer, & copier)
