Under the direction of the Director of Physician Relations, this position supports Stamford Health’s ongoing commitment to supporting our physician community. The Physician Relations Liaison is responsible for implementing relevant outreach plans and efforts to market clinical services to providers within their designated territory, with the goal of growing and developing Stamford Health’s network integrity and market share. This includes spending most of their week in Stamford Health’s service areas, meeting with physicians, medical groups and other clinical facilities within their territory. The Physician Relations Liaison will set up meetings/events that include driving Stamford Health Medical Group (SHMG) providers into the region to participate in these activities. The position primarily focuses on building relationships through educating regional providers on prespecified, targeted areas of focus, to increase network integrity and meet the needs of referring providers. The Physician Relations Liaison will also attend internal meetings to meet new providers and/or learn about strategic initiatives that they will promote into the region.
MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES/CRITICAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Builds, nurtures, and maintains long-term, positive relationships with physicians, medical groups, and other clinical facilities within Stamford Health’s service areas
- Work with new medical staff to acclimate to the hospital market, services and referral sources
- Develop a strategy, and action plan for newly onboarded SHMG physicians to ensure a sense of belonging within the organization, facilitating introductions to other SHMG and community physicians
- Pursues business development and physician recruitment opportunities for Stamford Health and its affiliates based upon our mission, vision, and values aligned with Planetree
- Markets Stamford Health’s services, specialties, new treatments, partnerships and clinical capabilities along with the appropriate collateral material
- Develops and implements outreach strategies, scheduling meetings between physicians, and coordinating events to strengthen networks and collaboration
- Includes “in-office” activities in the outreach plan, building relationships with office staff and practice managers to ensure the physicians have what they need
- Participates in or attends public speaking engagements, trade shows, business meetings and seminars to promote the expertise of Stamford Health
- Drives development and standardization of communication protocols, encouraging physicians to keep referral sources in the loop on shared patients
- Provides competitive insights and market intelligence regarding Stamford Health’s service areas
- Regularly meets with service line leaders and strategic partners to ensure alignment on initiatives
- Provides physician feedback to administration on patient and physician satisfaction, as well as network expansion and service delivery
- Communicates the concerns of external providers to internal leadership and provides follow-up
- Collaborates with administrative and clinical leadership to ensure operational effectiveness
- Organizes and promotes special projects and functions as requested
Reporting & Analytics:
- Use market knowledge and insights from claims data to assemble outreach target lists and to understand how Stamford Health’s market position is changing over time
- Links outreach activities to claims and internal EMR data, to demonstrate the tangible impact of work to stakeholders
- Documents activities and events in Physician Relationship Management (PRM) system to help understand which engagement methods are having the greatest impact and adapting approach for better results
- Utilizes qualitative and quantitative insights to develop reports on progress to leadership, helping to inform strategic planning and measure success
- Analyzes network integrity activity and trends, collaborates in reviewing and resolving issues to strengthen ambulatory growth
- Utilizes internal EMR data to understand changes in internal referral volumes
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong computer skills and experience analyzing claims and referral data
- Experience utilizing data-driven CRM/PRM (i.e., Salesforce; Marketware)
- Healthcare experience desired
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with physicians and other health care professionals
- Ability to multi-task, work independently and achieve assigned KPIs
- Ability to promote new clinical programs, services and locations to physicians
- Proven track record in sales or business development
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to achieve project milestones/deadlines
