Position Summary

Massabesic High School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Boys’ Freshman Basketball Coach for the 2025–2026 winter season. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to developing student-athletes both on and off the court, with a focus on skill development, teamwork, sportsmanship, and academic success.

This position plays an important role within the overall high school basketball program and will collaborate closely with the varsity and junior varsity coaching staff to ensure alignment and consistency across all levels.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and conduct effective practices focused on player development, conditioning, and team strategies.

• Foster a positive and inclusive team culture built on respect, effort, and accountability.

• Collaborate with the varsity coaching staff to implement a cohesive program philosophy.

• Supervise student-athletes during all practices, games, and team activities, ensuring safety and well-being.

• Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, and school staff.

• Maintain accurate equipment inventories and ensure proper use of school facilities.

• Adhere to all MPA, district, and school athletic policies and expectations.

Qualifications

• Previous basketball coaching and/or playing experience preferred (high school level or higher).

• Demonstrated ability to teach fundamentals, develop players, and motivate young athletes.

• Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.

• Must meet all MPA and district coaching certification requirements, including:

   

  • Fundamentals of Coaching

  • First Aid / CPR Certification

  • Concussion in Sports

  • Heat Acclimatization (as required)

• Must complete all district onboarding and background check requirements prior to the start of the season.
