Job Summary

NorthStar Academies in Palm Springs, FL is seeking a Math Interventionist for Palm Beach Preparatory Charter Academy!

 

Job Summary:

As a member of the instructional team, the Math Interventionist supports math instruction, professional development, data analysis and student achievement in math and algebra at the school level. The Math Interventionist will be the master teacher in math instruction, math curriculum and assessment and differentiation in Grades 6-12 math. The Math Interventionist assists teachers and students establish priorities, set goals and construct concrete plans to achieve those goals.  The Math Interventionist will work with at-risk students in danger of dropping out by assisting students establish goals and then holding them accountable by monitoring their progress and coaching during setbacks. The Math Interventionist is required to organize, facilitate and attend professional development at the school site and district level. The Math Interventionist provides instructional support to all teachers and students by co-teaching, mentoring, modeling in classrooms and pull-in pushout schedule. The Math Interventionist will provide support in continual assessment development and the collection, management, and analysis of data. The Math Interventionist is an integral part of the school improvement planning process. The Math Interventionist assist with the reporting of student achievement data. The Math Interventionist assist in developing and presenting parent and community education opportunities and special events at the school site. 

 

The Math Interventionist works as a part of the instructional team in order to meet the needs of all students. The building of relationships is a critical component of this learning environment, the team works together to identify student needs that may be barriers to success. Teachers collaborate with team members to analyze different means of meeting student needs and communicates with students, parents, and other team members about student progress and plans for next steps.

 

Essential Interventionist Responsibilities:

  • Provide Instructional Support as needed;
  • Plan, model and co‐teach effective lessons in the classroom;
  • Provide support to math classes and teachers on a rotating basis with the effective
    implementation of best practices;
  • Communicate effectively with teachers and administration;
  •  Build teacher capacity by improving instructional practices resulting in increased student
    learning;
  • Cultivate collaboration across teams for data analysis, goal setting and implementing effective instructional strategies aligned to specific problems in learning;
  • Observing Classrooms in order to learn about classroom environments, predominant teaching practices and identify opportunities to support daily instruction and professional development;
  • Debrief with math teachers and administration with the goal of improving teacher practice and student learning;
  • Build effective relationships with teachers and administrators in order to promote a climate of continuous professional growth;
  • Performs Data Analysis to provide relevant feedback;
  • Train general education staff in the interpretation of the screener, diagnostic, state
    assessments, and district assessment results;
  • Analyze assessment data with administration and staff in order to support school
    improvement planning and identify professional development needs;
  • Mentor teachers to use assessment data from multiple data sources to inform instruction and improve learning;
  • Provides support for Test Administration;
  • Provide training on the correct administration of the universal screener and other assessments as required throughout the school year;
  • Provide training to staff on the correct use of district online assessment software and reports;
  • Engage in Professional Development;
  • Plan, facilitate and deliver professional development based on assessed needs aligned with school improvement plan, district and team goals;
  • Participate in professional development to improve coaching, data analysis and content
    knowledge;
  • Demonstrate knowledge of state standards, testing requirements, and graduation requirements within the core content;
  • Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum, student needs and assessments;
  • Become proficient in the use of computer based instruction and software;
  • Keep accurate documentation regarding student progress, needs, strengths, grades, observations, anecdotal records, and other related data;
  • Contribute to a culture of professionalism among team members;
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by the Principal .

Qualifications


Required

  • Bachelor of Arts / Science Degree in the related field;
  • Appropriate / valid Teacher certification;
  • Minimum Three (2) years of teaching experience;
  • Must be Reading Endorsed or willing to obtain a Reading Endorsement and add to certification;
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook;
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred.
