This position will be scheduled to work Sunday - Tuesday and every other Wednesday, 6:00AM - 6:00PM. This position is eligible for $1/hour shift differential for the 12-hour shifts.
I. Position Overview: |
The position is responsible for maintenance and repair of Facility and Utility Systems and equipment that to allow for efficient and safe production of quality product.
II. Specific Duties, Activities, and Responsibilities: |
- Follow all safety rules and regulations, and actively participate in safety-related activities.
- Comply with GMP requirements and observe good housekeeping practices.
- Be available for 24 hr. call in to resolve Facility Maintenance-related emergencies.
- Maintain and repair the following equipment/systems: boilers, chillers, compressors, dryers, vacuum pumps, water heaters and pretreatment systems, water softeners and media filters, RO and DI water systems, WFI stills, pure steam generators, wastewater delivery systems, HVAC units, coolers and freezers, autoclaves, and emergency power units.
- Responsible for the proper operating condition of air handling units that provide the required environmental conditions in all areas (room differential pressure, temperature & humidity).
- Perform general building repairs (lights, outlets, doors, walls, ceilings, floors & restrooms).
- Complete assigned preventive & corrective maintenance of equipment and systems on time.
- Document the execution of assigned tasks in ERP system per standard operating procedures in a timely and accurate manner (work orders, SOPs, forms & service reports).
- Provide regular status updates of work completed and work in progress (verbal & written).
- Complete all training requirements listed in assigned training curriculum by its due date.
- Identify and submit suggestions to improve safety, quality, productivity, and efficiency.
- Interact with vendors and contractors in a professional manner to complete assigned tasks.
- Order spare parts and observe procedures that help maintain critical parts inventory.
- Assist in the upgrade, removal and disposal of decommissioned equipment and systems.
- Support new equipment and systems evaluation, selection, installation, and validation.
- Assist in repair of aseptic and packaging equipment and systems when requested.
- Interact respectfully and professionally with other departments, contractors, and visitors.
- Support projects and miscellaneous activities as directed by the Facility Manager.
- Other duties as assigned.
III. Position Requirements: |
Education or Equivalent:
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- HVAC certification is desired.
Experience:
- Minimum five (5) years of relative maintenance experience required.
- Experience in medical device or pharmaceutical manufacturing environment desired.
Knowledge/Skills Requirements:
- Strong mechanical & electrical aptitude.
- Understands and applies the use of hand and power tools and measuring instruments.
- High level of attention to detail.
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
- Works well under pressure and able to prioritize workloads.
- Ability to work independently on multiple projects at one time.
- Works well in a team environment. Able to interact effectively with others.

Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for up to 12 hours per day.
- Visual Acuity (20/30 corrected vision).
- Safely use hand and power tools to complete assigned tasks.
- Drive forklifts, scissor lifts, pallet jacks, dollies, and company vehicle.
- Frequent sitting, standing, walking, climbing ladders/steps, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reading of written documents and use of computer monitor screen, reaching with hands and arms, handling, and grasping.
- Occasional walking up inclines and uneven terrain, writing, talking, listening and balancing.
- Frequent lifting/moving up to 30 pounds, and occasional lifting/moving up to 50 pounds.
