Vermont State University Online seeks an adjunct instructor to teach a 3-credit Business course during the (semester) semester between (1/20/2026-3/8/2026).  The course will be taught 100% online using Canvas.

POSITION: Part-time, Adjunct Instructor

RESPONSIBILITIES: VTSU Online uses Canvas and provides a generic course template for all courses. The instructor is responsible for adding outcomes, academic materials, discussion and assignment that support  the course description. Additionally, VTSU Online instructors are obligated to the adhere to the VTSU Online Standards that address instructor presence, student engagement, instructor expectations, and assessment of student work.

Course description:

This course explores the practical aspects of organizing and managing a small business. It covers the basic concepts of accounting, finance, cash management, business law, government regulations, taxes, and marketing. The student gains the knowledge necessary to make informed business decisions by examining how to analyze a business and improve its management.

Qualifications:

For consideration, candidates must possess at least a master's degree in a related discipline or equivalent experience.  For consideration, candidates must possess at least a master’s degree in a related discipline.  A minimum of five years of experience teaching fully online, asynchronous courses is required, along with demonstrated familiarity with adult learning theory.  Experience with Canvas is preferred.  Faculty are responsible for designing their own course with the full support of an instructional designer and the structured VTSU Online Canvas Template.  Instructors are expected to add weekly content including outcomes, readings, videos, discussions, and assessments in alignment with the course description, and follow and VTSU Online Standards of course design, readiness, instructor presence, engagement, assessment, and accessibility.  The full course must be ready and published at least one week prior to the start of the semester.

Candidates should submit a cover letter, resume, a letter of reference, academic transcript, and statement of commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.  Compensation is dependent upon online teaching experience (within and outside of the Vermont State Colleges System) and bargaining unit status; the starting range is between $1000-1250 per credit.
