POSITION SUMMARY
Under general supervision of the Manager, the HIM/Compliance Specialist II will support the HIM and Compliance department in the daily operations while managing and maintaining all aspects of the electronic health record, transcription services and compliance program. They will work in conjunction with all HIM staff, physicians, physician assistants, residents, fellows, and physical therapy as well as internal and external customers.

Essential Functions Statement(s)
- Supports the HIM Manager in the daily operations within the HIM department, including the onboarding and training process of new providers, residents, fellows and Campbell clinic employees, as applicable.
- Answer all incoming phone calls; address and resolve departmental issues or concerns as assigned.
- Demonstrate skills in problem solving, interpersonal, organizational, and communication.
- Supports the clinical staff with any Transcription issues via on-site during clinic hours.
- Support and monitor transcription reports to ensure compliance with company policies for dictation completion. Assist department staff to ensure the clinical encounters are closed in a timely manner. Follow up with providers to complete outstanding dictations and operative notes.
- Assist HIM manager with department workflows and changes to improve continuous processes throughout the organization.
- Perform chart audits and analyze chart deficiencies according to policy and procedures.
- Support and monitor the FMLA/disability components to ensure timely completion of pending requests. Address any issues or concerns with patients, staff or vendors.
- Coordinate release of information (ROI) processes, ensuring timely and compliant responses to requests.
- Assist with audits and inspections related to HIM functions and documentation standards.
- Train staff on HIM procedures, documentation standards, and privacy/security protocols.
- Assist with updating policies and procedures to reflect regulatory changes.
- Assist Compliance Officer with investigating compliance incidents, including HIPAA breaches, and recommend corrective actions.
- Provide training and guidance to staff on compliance topics, including HIPAA, CMS, and internal standards.
- Support the Compliance Officer in implementing and evaluating the effectiveness of the compliance program.
- Serves as backup to HIM/Compliance manager on projects and daily work tasks as needed. Will be required to act as a liaison in managers' absence.
- Regular and predictable attendance, some duties will require occasional on-site presence.

SKILLS & ABILITIES
Education: Bachelor's degree in health information management required.
Certifications & Licenses: Must have RHIT/RHIA credentials, required
Experience: Must have at least 3-5 years of experience working in health information management or clinical/medical environments is required. Transcription experience is preferred. Experience working within an Electronic Health Record System is required. Experience/knowledge of medical records, chart completion, HIPAA, and records management. Experience/knowledge of compliance and quality assurance
Computer Skills: Must have advanced computer skills. Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Ability to communicate with Physicians effectively. Have technical skills with electronic devices, such as laptops, phones, iPad
