Who We Are
We know you want a phenomenal career. We know you want a career with growth opportunities, work/life flexibility, and great benefits. We also know you want to care about what you do; you want to make a difference in people’s lives through your day-to-day work.
At Nexstar Network, we believe that a phenomenal career is possible. We’re a member-owned organization devoted to providing leadership and coaching and training to residential service companies across the U.S., Canada, and beyond. That’s right: since 1992, we’ve been working with owners of plumbing, heating, cooling, and electrical businesses to help them grow to their fullest potential.
We’ll help you grow to your fullest potential, too. Imagine coming to work for a company that offers both in-person collaboration and work from home flexibility because we know both are important. Imagine being able to casually walk into your CEO’s office to share an idea you’d like to try. Imagine knowing your voice matters at work, and you’re supported in your role by others who love to serve.
Are you imagining it? Good. We’re waiting to meet you at Nexstar.

The Big Task
As Nexstar continues to grow, we’re evolving how we plan, prioritize, and deliver the strategic work that drives member value. The Director of the Project Management Office (PMO) will build the structure that connects strategy to execution, ensuring our most critical initiatives are focused, resourced, and delivered with discipline.
This role will establish and lead Nexstar’s first formal project management function, bringing clarity, visibility, and operational rigor to how work gets done across the organization.
Key Tasks
- Establish and lead Nexstar’s first formal project management function by designing practical frameworks, lightweight governance, and clear reporting methods that fit our size and pace.
- Document and refine project management practices as the function matures, ensuring scalability without unnecessary complexity.
- Partner with the executive team to translate strategic initiatives into actionable and executable workstreams with clear ownership, timing, outcomes, and deliverables.
- Facilitate executive decision-making by framing project trade-offs, sequencing options, and impacts.
- Build and manage a portfolio management process that balances enterprise priorities, functional needs, and resource constraints.
- Create and maintain user-friendly tools and dashboards to track project status, dependencies, and progress across departments, improving visibility and accountability.
- Create consistent intake, prioritization, and decision-making processes to ensure resource optimization and alignment with Nexstar’s strategic priorities.
- Lead and develop a small team including project managers and business analysts, providing hands-on guidance to build capability and consistency in project delivery across the organization.
- Collaborate closely with IT, Finance, Operations, and other teams to identify dependencies, sequence work effectively, and manage capacity constraints.
- Define, track and communicate key measures of project health, delivery progress, and business impact to ensure leaders have visibility into what’s working and where help is needed.
- Serve as the connector between leadership and delivery teams, translating strategy into execution and helping remove barriers that slow down progress to execution.
- Capture lessons learned and continuously refine PMO practices to improve speed and effectiveness.
Required Skills:
- 8+ years of progressive experience in project, program, or portfolio management; at least 3–5 years in a leadership or coordination role overseeing enterprise-wide initiatives.
- Proven success organizing and resourcing cross-functional projects in a growing or matrixed environment.
- Experience building or managing basic capacity or resource planning models across teams.
- Demonstrated ability to design and implement new processes or tools from the ground up.
- Strong communication and facilitation skills; able to translate strategy into clear, actionable plans and influence without authority.
- Ability to frame options, trade-offs, and recommendations to enable informed executive decision-making.
- Comfortable leading through ambiguity and change; skilled at driving adoption of new ways of working without overengineering.
- Deep understanding of project management methodologies (Agile (preferred), Waterfall, hybrid approaches) and the ability to apply them pragmatically.
- Proficient with common PM or collaboration tools (e.g., Smartsheet, Asana, Jira, SharePoint, Power BI).
- Proven success building trusted partnerships across functional and leadership levels.
- Mindset of continuous improvement; able to capture lessons learned and translate them into scalable practices.
- Experience in strategic planning and organizational change management preferred.
- PMP or comparable project management certification preferred.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred but not required.
Travel Requirements:
- Planned travel up to 10%, primarily for leadership meetings and member events.
