Overview

The Director of Grants and Development is a mission-driven professional responsible for advancing Wesley Glen Ministries’ fundraising goals through strategic grant acquisition, prospect research, donor engagement, and development operations. This role is both inward and outward facing, maintaining healthy and effective Development office operations while building meaningful connections that will grow our reach.

Primary Responsibilities

Grant Writing, Research & Foundation Relations (50%)

· Identify, research, and qualify potential and existing grants and funding opportunities with foundations and donor-advised funds.

· Write and submit persuasive proposals, letters of inquiry, applications, and reports that communicate Wesley Glen’s mission, impact, and vision.

· Build new and continue existing relationships with foundation representatives.

· Maintain an active grant calendar and electronic filing system while ensuring timely submissions and reporting to all funders.

· Ensure all restricted requests are spent and acknowledged within timelines allotted by grant parameters.

· Collaborate with program and leadership team to collect data, outcomes, and stories that inform compelling funding narratives.

Development Operations & Annual Fund (40%)

· Handle gift processing, donor acknowledgments, and accurate financial tracking of contributions.

· Prepare timely and accurate reports for CDO, Development team, Board meetings, and auditors.

· Manage annual fund donor stewardship and implement strategies for growing this program: ie. GLAD Recurring donors, payroll deduction, etc.

· Coordinate annual mailings, appeals, and donor outreach initiatives with Development team ensuring inventory and mailing lists are prepared for each one.

· Ensure strong systems for data management and reporting to guide strategic fundraising decisions.

Event & Gala Support (5%)

· Support for annual events by managing QGiv event site (both pre-event and on the evening of event). i.e. Ensuring site is prepped with guest table registrations, seating coordination, and silent auction/raffle inventory.

· Oversee guest communications for all events.

· Provide leadership for event check-in, guest hospitality, and post-event follow-up.

· Assist as needed with any event preparations, setup, and other needs during events as assigned.

Community & Connectional Engagement (5%)

· Build and nurture new opportunities with schools and local organizations to encourage giving and engagement with Wesley Glen’s mission.

· Represent Wesley Glen Ministries at community events, presentations, and partner meetings as needed.

· Develop creative ways to invite community participation with individual fundraising campaigns and special project initiatives.

Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree required in Communications, Business, or a related field.

· Master’s degree preferred.

· Demonstrated success in persuasive and impactful writing across various formats (proposals, reports, donor materials, or industry specific writing).

· Strong skills in data management, analysis, and reporting to support informed decision-making.

· Excellent organizational, communication, and time management abilities.

· A collaborative spirit and commitment to Wesley Glen’s faith-based mission of serving people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
