We are seeking a detail-oriented, compassionate, and skilled Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our Heart & Vascular Institute. What We're Looking For:
Education, Experience & Certification Requirements
Education:
High School Diploma or GED – required
Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program
Program curriculum must include pharmacology and medication administration
Certification or registry must be obtained by the last day of the sixth month of hire, with an education agreement signed
Accepted Certifications/Registries:
CMA – American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)
CCMA – National Health Career Association (NHA)
RMA – American Medical Technologists (AMT)
RMA – American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA)
NHCWA – National Healthcare Workers Association
NCCT – National Center for Competency Testing
NAHP – National Association for Health Professionals
AAH – American Allied Health
Alternative Work Experience (for eligibility to test if not already certified):
Applicants who are not certified or registered upon hire may qualify to sit for an approved certification exam with the following work experience:NHA or NHCWA: Minimum of 1 year as a supervised Medical Assistant within the last 3 years
NCCT or NAHP: Minimum of 2 years as a supervised Medical Assistant
ARMA: Minimum of 3 years as a supervised Medical Assistant
AMT: Minimum of 5 years of the last 7 years as a supervised Medical Assistant (no more than 2 years as an instructor in a post-secondary MA program)
OR graduate of an Accredited School of Professional Nursing
Experience must include both clinical (including medication administration) and administrative duties.
Experience:
Previous work experience in a medical office or outpatient clinical setting – preferred
Licensure/Certification:
Current certification or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire as CMA, RMA, or CCMA – required
Current State Driver’s License (Palliative Care only) – required
Additional Skills Required:
Ability to successfully complete generic and department-specific skills validation
Must pass competency testing in all assigned clinical and administrative areas
Patient Care – Supporting Heart & Vascular Health
Be the welcoming face of the clinic, ensuring every patient feels comfortable and valued.
Prepare patients for cardiac and vascular appointments by obtaining vitals, performing EKGs, and updating medical histories.
Assist providers with stress tests, echocardiograms, vascular studies, and in-office procedures.
Provide patient education on lifestyle management, medication adherence, and post-procedure care to promote long-term wellness.
Offer compassionate support to patients managing chronic cardiac conditions, hypertension, or post-intervention recovery.
Clinical Support & Testing – Delivering Safe, Effective Care
Perform diagnostic testing, blood draws, and specimen collection with accuracy and care.
Ensure all results and clinical documentation are entered precisely to support provider review and patient continuity of care.
Maintain compliance with infection prevention, safety protocols, and HIPAA standards.
Assist with cardiac monitoring devices (Holter, Zio, or event monitors) and provide patient instruction on proper use and follow-up.
