About the Role:

The Equipment Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently operating carry deck and swing cranes in support of industrial, construction, or maintenance projects. This role requires a current NCCCO (National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators) certification and demonstrated experience in lifting, rigging, and material handling operations in accordance with OSHA and company safety standards.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver's license
  • Valid NCCCO Certification in applicable crane types (Carry Deck and Swing Crane).
  • Minimum 2–3 years of crane operating experience in an industrial or construction environment.
  • Thorough knowledge of load charts, rigging practices, and crane setup procedures.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, lift plans, and site layouts.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to follow direction from site supervision.
  • Proven commitment to safety and teamwork in a fast-paced work environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in heavy equipment operation
  • Experience working on construction sites
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints

Responsibilities:

  • Operate carry deck cranes and swing cranes to lift, move, and position materials, equipment, and other loads safely and efficiently.
  • Perform daily pre-operational inspections and report any mechanical issues or safety concerns immediately.
  • Verify that rigging and lifting gear are properly selected, inspected, and used according to load requirements.
  • Collaborate with riggers, signalpersons, and site supervisors to ensure safe crane operations within load limits and job site constraints.
  • Set up cranes and ensure stability through proper outrigger and boom configurations per manufacturer specifications.
  • Interpret and follow load charts, lift plans, and hand signals.
  • Maintain accurate and timely equipment logs, inspection records, and lift documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with all company, OSHA, and NCCCO safety requirements and site-specific policies.
  • Assist with general site duties as needed, including equipment mobilization, maintenance support, and material handling.
  • Participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, and required training.

Skills:

As an Equipment Operator, you will need to have strong hand-eye coordination and be able to operate heavy machinery with precision. You will also need to have excellent communication skills and be able to work well in a team environment. Attention to detail and the ability to follow safety protocols are essential. Additionally, experience with routine maintenance and the ability to troubleshoot equipment issues will be beneficial in this role.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to climb, bend, lift up to 50 lbs, and work at heights or in outdoor environments.
  • Must be able to sit for extended periods while operating equipment.
  • Ability to work in varying weather conditions and extended hours as project demands require.
