Job Summary/Objective:

The Director of Supply Chain is responsible for overseeing the hospital’s purchasing, inventory control, and supply chain operations. This position administers programs to procure, store, and distribute materials, supplies, and equipment efficiently and cost-effectively while ensuring compliance with organizational standards. The role includes managing vendor relationships, negotiating contracts, optimizing inventory processes, and supervising departmental staff to maintain smooth operations.


Essential Functions/Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Direct and oversee purchasing, receiving, storing, and distribution of hospital supplies and equipment.
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and strategies for efficient materials management.
  • Manage vendor relationships, including evaluating suppliers, negotiating contracts, and ensuring adherence to terms.
  • Monitor and analyze inventory metrics to improve efficiency, reduce shrinkage, and optimize supply chain operations.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational standards and regulatory requirements in all purchasing and inventory activities.
  • Collaborate with other departments to forecast supply needs and maintain adequate inventory levels.
  • Oversee the development of department budgets and ensure adherence to financial guidelines.
  • Supervise and support departmental staff to ensure operational excellence.
  • Prepare and present reports on purchasing and inventory performance to senior management.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Skills / Abilities:

  • Strong leadership and organizational skills to manage multiple aspects of materials management.
  • Excellent negotiation and vendor management abilities.
  • Analytical skills for inventory metrics evaluation and process optimization.
  • Proficiency in materials management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to work with vendors, staff, and other departments.

 

Education, Certificates, and License:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in materials management, purchasing, or supply chain operation preferred.
  • Prior management experience preferred.

Certificates / License:

  • Certification in supply chain management or related field preferred but not required.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Lifting: Occasionally lift and carry items weighing up to 20 lbs.
  • Mobility: Frequent standing, walking, and sitting throughout the workday.
  • Posture: Regular use of a computer and other office equipment.
