Job Summary:
To provide medical care that is personal, continuous, cost-effective, and of high quality under the supervision of a physician. A licensed medical professional who works with a medical doctor to provide patient care in various setting and specialties. A PA can examine, diagnose, treat, and prescribe medications for common illnesses and injuries, as well as assist in minor procedures. A PA may also order diagnostic tests, read charts, and interact with patients and their families.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Examining, diagnosing and treating patients with the guidance of a medical doctor in the outpatient setting.
- Contributes to physician's effectiveness by identifying short-term and long-range patient care issues that must be addressed; providing information and commentary pertinent to deliberations; recommending options and courses of action; implementing physician directives.
- Assesses patient health by interviewing patients; performing physical examinations; obtaining, updating, and studying medical histories in the outpatient setting as well as the inpatient, and other facilities
- Determines abnormal conditions by administering or ordering diagnostic tests, such as x-rays, electrocardiograms, and laboratory studies as well as interpreting these test results. Notifies patients of these results.
- Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records.
- Performs therapeutic procedures by administering therapeutic injections, suturing; managing wounds, infections and fracture care.
- Instructs and counsels patients by describing therapeutic regimens; giving normal growth and development information; discussing family planning; providing counseling on emotional problems of daily living; promoting wellness and health maintenance.
- Provides continuity of care by developing and implementing patient management plans.
- Works directly with back office for triage, patient management and refill requests.
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
- Complies with federal, state, and local legal and professional requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
- Develops health care team staff by providing information, educational opportunities, and experiential growth opportunities.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Education Requirements:
Graduate of appropriate academic program. Have appropriate licensure. Attend Continuing Education programs as requested or as required by the position. DEA licensure.
Working Environment:
This job operates in a professional outpatient medical environment. This role routinely interacts with direct patient care.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This is both a sedentary and walking/standing role; however, some lifting is required; it would require the ability to lift and navigate patients.
