Position: Supervisor (Warehouse - Trent Compassion)
Hours: 17.50 hours per week (0.46 FTE) - (to include Tuesday, Thursday and Friday)
Contract: Permanent
Salary: £26,660 per annum, pro rata (monthly gross salary is £1,036.78)
Aim of the role:
Managing volunteers and the flow of furniture, creating an efficient and supportive environment as part of The Arches (part of Trent Compassion).
General Responsibilities:
- Ensuring the effective supply of furniture to The Arches clients, taking an active role when necessary, including the physical movement and distribution of furniture.
- Ensuring that the Compassion warehouse is used effectively to further the aims of The Arches and also to support other charities with storage as appropriate, including food.
- Work with The Arches Manager to create strategy and goals for both furniture distribution and warehouse use and then ensure these are implemented.
- Manage, motivate, train, empower and encourage volunteers, leading the teams with Christian values and providing pastoral support where necessary, and investing in growing leaders where appropriate.
- Be an ambassador for Trent Vineyard and Trent Compassion.
- To attend both regular and occasional meetings.
- To maintain knowledge of other team functions within The Arches and across Trent Compassion.
- To take on new areas of responsibility and oversight at the request of your line manager and relinquish others as the team develops and responsibilities change.
Specific duties include:
- Co-ordinate the supply of furniture, donations and deliveries.
- Maintain the database (AFOL) to keep stock up to date and for statistics.
- Work with volunteer co-ordinator to ensure correct volunteer teams are in place to achieve required targets.
- Ensure any vehicles used are appropriately maintained, cleaned, fuelled and generally fit for purpose, including equipping them for use by teams.
- Envision, pastorally support and develop existing volunteers, bring on new volunteers to support the warehouse teams as necessary.
- Make sure all staff and volunteers conform to current health and safety, fire regulations and safe manual handling practices.
- Have an overview of general safety in the working environment in and around the warehouse. Work alongside the Trent Vineyard Facilities team where appropriate.
- Oversee the safe disposal of any items that are not acceptable for distribution, including forging links with appropriate external disposal agencies.
- Ensure warehouse, van and PAT teams are equipped with what they need.
- Maintain a tidy and professional physical working environment.
- Ensure clients and donators are welcomed on arrival at the building
- Oversee the PAT team and connect them into the wider team
- Monitor furniture stock levels and work to solve gaps when they arise
- Be able to drive the van as needed

Person Specification

- Demonstrate an understanding of God’s heart for Justice.

- Have a full UK driving licence and able to drive a van (be over 25)
- This role involves some manual handling so you must be physically fit
